Good explanation.

I came to Korea being 24 (US age) so I got off of the plane and was 25 (Korean age). Then a few months later, in January I was already 26 (Korean age) before I even really turned 25, since my birthday is in February.

And age is of course a big thing here. You can be certain that when someone is introduced for the first time to a group, or when meeting new friends, people ask what year you were born. If affects your social status.

Congratulations! You just gained a year! At some point adding years becomes less attractive...

17 still, according to the Korean system.

I think I was right. Having just turned 17 in September, and with the New Year still less than a month off, I think I'm also still 17 in Korea.

The range of ages isn't as widespread as I would have thought. I guess this is a reflection of the generation that knows about podcasts?

This means that I would be 20 next year in korea before I turn 19 in April 8) That's awesome. Everyone wants to be 20 in Sweden haha.

Exactly...

As of today I am 25 in the Western world, 26 in Korea. In just a few weeks, I'll be 27 here And then a few weeks after that, my US age will catch up by a year - I'll be 26.

Crazy, huh? Could make for an interesting brain twister.. how can you age 2 years in the span of a couple weeks?

just for some quick information about age, apparently, the Japanese also counted one year in the mother's womb as 1 year of your life. But they no longer do that.

I wonder if the Chinese did that as well? Anyone know?

And if you haven't listened to it yet, there was a culture class on age!

I'm sure its more about the nth year of your life you are in than how old you are, logically.
