Sentence diagraming

Postby JohnThompsonJTSoftware939 » May 15th, 2012 5:37 pm

How about option for diagramming the lesson dialog sentences? (i.e. illustrating the grammatical parts of the sentences. I.e. you do it verbally in the beginner lessons, perhaps it could be automated on the web page.) Doing it in the PDF would be great too.

Thanks.

Hello John,

By 'illustrating the grammatical parts of the sentences', do you mean highlighting the grammar points in a sentence and giving detailed explanation for each in the lesson notes too?

Sentence diagramming

Postby JohnThompsonJTSoftware939 » May 16th, 2012 5:56 pm

Something like:

저 는 김경미 입니다
pronoun SMP noun verb root + present formal

(Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to use a fixed-width font here, so the columns don't line up above. Basically, each part is in it's own column.)
You could also color-code the parts and/or underline them, or use other graphics to make it pretty.

Perhaps optionally include the literal translation and romanization.

저 는 김경미 입니다
jeo neun gimgyeongmi im nida.
I - Kyoungmi Kim to be (am)
pronoun SMP noun verb root + present formal

In Jr. High we had to do something similar in English, which they called "sentence diagramming".

It might also be multi-level. Using an English example:

John is in the park.
noun verb preposition definite article noun
___________________________________
prepositional phrase
_______ _________________________________________
subject predicate

Thanks.
