I caught that Kool Keith reference in the Intermediate lesson.

"like Kool Keith with a K!"

around the corner of the culture department of the Korean embassy in Berlin (where I have Korean classes) there's "Keithstraße", i.e. "Keith Street".

Always wanted to tell you, Keith ;)

I thought this might be the right thread for it.
unfortunately having half a set of Korean genes doesn't come w/ a language gene

Lol! At least someone gets my jokes! Although, I have to admit, I've only said that. Didn't know there was a Kool Keith action figure (?). Actually, I never even thought there was a real Kool Keith! Only heard the name!

Kyuree - Back in my rebellious youth, I used to collect street signs :X If I was still a punk, I'd definitely have that one for my collection! Good thing I'm nice and reformed :)

haha, the sister of my buddy has the same birthday as me June 17th (one day after yours like we know  ) and it used to be a German holiday since something historical happened on that day. So the street where my uni is (a biiiig looong street) has the name "Street of June 17th".
My buddy said her friends got the street sign for her once as a b-day present!!
So should you ever be in Berlin, I'll show you the street - maybe you'll feel rebelious again!
What kind of street signs do you have in your collection?

Oh and I remember when Keith said that "like Kool Keith with a K!" and how he changed his voice.
Keith, you have the perfect radio voice. You're in the right job
Maybe some day you'll be on TV as a show host? :D

and now that I have your attention... you said "dutch pay" was not english... but paying "dutch" is definitely something we say. I think we say "going dutch" or something like that.... But when I was listening to the show I was thinking "wait- has he never heard of going dutch? or is he saying we don't use the specific phrase "Dutch pay?""

nitpicky huh?

So that's why Korea has no street names.. all the signs are in Keith's apartment ;). I just did the beginner lesson on getting directions in Seoul.

Dear Keith,

I would like to thank you for another great drive to work this morning. I used to hate my commute, but now that I have Intermediate season 1 burned to CD I really enjoy my drive. This morning however I almost got into an accident, twice. The first time was during the English translation of the dialog when they sang happy birthday. During the song I started to wonder "Wait, is keith actually going to sing?" Then there was a long pause after the Korean version and then... "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU" and I almost ran off the road.

Then you had the nerve to yell "YEEEAAAHHH LETS EAT CAKE!" which was also so funny I almost ran off the road. I'm thinking of changing my phone's ringtone to "YEAAAH LETS EAT CAKE!"

Thats all.

Love,

Gary.
