The no.1 Korean community website is Cyworld (http://www.cyworld.nate.com) but it's not invitation-based. You will have to go to the website and become a member there youself. Everything's in Korean so it might be difficult, but I'll see if I can make a translation of the subscribtion process later :D

Good luck! 행운을 빌어요!

피터스...

It might be, there is an English version of Cyworld, but the problem is that it requires a Korean ID card, or an Alien Registration Card if you're living here. They won't activate your account unless you give them that info to register. Do you live in Korea/have a Korean ID?

On the other had, I did one time see a US cyworld site once...

Foreigners can register for a Korean cyworld, I've done so myself.

https://cymember.cyworld.com/main/regis ... erForm.jsp

Click the green button that says 외국인. And you will need to have a scan or photograph of your passport, to prove that you are who you say you are. I think it took a little less than a week for them to approve everything for mine.

The Korean cyworld can't be accessed from that. Accounts aren't "global", they are only valid for whichever site you signed up for.

Oh and just for a tidbit of info...

You have to make a copy of your passport and/or give your registration number because they don't want users to make 20 or 30 different names and start spamming :P

It's a bit of a hassle to sign up, but there is a reason ;)

My apologies for bumping a topic that has been inactive for 10 days.
Im new here (안녕하세요 everyone lol)...

I met a guy online who is learning Korean too, and he advised me to sign up on cyworld. I know there is an English version, but according to him, that and the Korean one arent interconnected. So, I should register on the Korean one.

I've been looking online but I can't seem to find a tutorial... Does anyone have a link to a tutorial (in English) that explains how I can sign up on the website?

And do I really need a Korean ID number? Can't I use my own or something?

Google is your friend ;D

http://www.jayfraser.com/cyworld/registration.htm

It shows you screencaps and tells you what to click. It takes you through the registration process, as well as helps you do other things to your cyworld once you have it.

And like other posts in this thread have said, you do not need a Korean ID number. If you go through the registration form that is for foreigners, then you just need to provide a scan or photograph of your passport.
