visiting my parents' house in 광주

Postby hyunwoo » August 28th, 2007 7:36 pm

I've just arrived at my parents' house in 광주(Gwangju) :D

I've spent the past 9 weeks in China so I sort of missed them and wanted to see them before I come back here in about a month for the 추석 Festival in mid-September.

Has anyone been to 광주 or heard of the city's name before? ^_^

I have passed through there a couple of times. My friend had his camera stolen at the main bus terminal there.

Too bad...T.T

I've never been stolen anything in Korea, but you can never be too careful.

I'm from New York  but my parents are from Seoul, and everyone else in my family is from 평양 (PyeongYang) - the North Korean capital.

Wow. I wish we could travel to 평양 one day! Now we're only allowed to go to 금강산(Mt Geumgang) unless you go to North Korea on a special corporate or political mission, right?

Since we are talking rumors...
I understand that the 전남 도청 moved from 광주 to 목포. How is that going to impact 광주? I am certain that it will have big benefits for 목포 since that region is fairly poor. Was there a big outcry in 광주 seeing as how the 도청 was there for over a hundred years? I hear the new building is very nice.

My wife's parents just moved to Gwangju a few months back, we'll be visitting them probably in the autumn. I've not been there before but have visitted Seoul, Busan and Suncheon previously.

You have been to all the Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea) that I want to go, when will the time come for me? :(
