Currency Exchange Rate

Postby hyunwoo » September 2nd, 2007 4:00 am

You might be wondering 'Why is Korean currency so BIG in number?" but I'd say it's only a matter of getting used to ^_^ LOL, although the reason behind it is the surge in prices back in 60s ~ 80s during the process of rapid development.

:D

As of today(2 September 2007), the currency exchange rate is

    1 US Dollar = 938.30 Korean Won
    1.07 US Dollar = 1,000 Korean Won

    1 Japanese Yen = 8.07 Korean Won
    123.85 Japanese Yen = 1,000 Korean Won

    1 Euro = 1,282 Korean Won
    0.78 Euro = 1,000 Korean Won

It's funny that living abroad, I secretly hope that the US will make some poor fiscal decisions to drive the dollar lower!

Cause it means good things for paying off loans and saving money!

The Canadian dollar's doing very well, too-- even reaching parity with the American dollar a couple weeks ago. While that's a very good thing in some circles, it doesn't help the manufacturing sector in my home province, Ontario.

Plus, it means that I'm not making as much money here vis-a-vis the Canadian dollar. I guess I'll just have to stay in Korea forever...
