하고싶다 and Beginner Season 1 Lesson #28

Postby darrenlew » June 20th, 2009 10:08 pm

Hi there,

First post for me. I'm confused about the end of the dialog. Why does 혜경 say 울고 싶다 instead of 울고 샆어요? What's the difference in connotation? Thanks!

울고십다 is the dictionary version of the word. 울고싶어요 is how it is said in speech.
I think using the dictionary definitions of the word is common in writing and when talking to yourself.

해경 is just thinking out loud when she says she wants to cry. She isn't actively telling that she wants to cry.
