Different ways to convey "said"

Postby cheri » February 7th, 2009 4:04 am

In writing, there are a million different ways in which we can spice up a quote by substituting "said" with various other phrases, depending on the context/situation. Obviously, this makes the text more interesting and descriptive...

For example:
"I hate you!" Darren shot back.
"We'll see who wins!" Sean fired back.
"Just wait and see," Jim murmured.
"100?" she guessed.
"Not today," he groaned.
"Why don't we go tomorrow?" she kindly suggested.

Of course, in casual speech, we tend to stick with simple words such as said, asked, told __, thought, etc.

I was wondering if someone might give a breakdown of some other common or fun alternatives to "...."라고 말했다? :)

Also, what's the best way to say, "I thought to myself" or "He/She thought to his/herself?" e.g. "No way! He's wrong, and I'm definitely right," I thought to myself.

Thank you in advance~^^

"Just wait and see," Jim murmured. '두고 보자 라고하며 짐이 중얼거렸다
"100?" she guessed. 백(개) 일까' 하고 그녀가 추측했다
"Not today," he groaned. 오늘은 않되' 라고하며 그가 신음했다
"Why don't we go tomorrow?" she kindly suggested.'내일가면 않되?' 라고하며 그녀가 상냥하게 제안했다

"I thought to myself" 내 속으로 생각했다 Literally, I thought within me.
속; in, inside, within, among
마음속으로 웃다
침대 속에 누워 있다
마음속로 기도하다
모자 속에 두다
군중 속에 섞이다
군중 속으로 사라지다
