Sorry if this has been in a lesson I have kinda fallen behind in my studies quite a bit, but this word has been driving me crazy, it's in every drama and movie.

I couldn't figure out how to spell it until watching 우리결혼했어요.

I have seen it subtitled as "fine" or "enough", and have seen it used in arguments and just in conversation.

Can I get a clarification on how it's used and in what context?

this is what manyakumi told me on this one. he said that 돼=되+어
so using his example, 일이 이렇게 돼 죄송합니다. i hope that helped a little. someone who can better explain, please feel free.

돼 ; 되다 ; has become, done, finished,

When it is said as an answer, 됏어요, 됏다, 됏읍니다 it means OK, fine, forget it, never mind, think nothing of it, don't feel too bed, etc, depending on the situation.
If you say with a bad attitude, it can mean 'forget it, never mind.
If said with smile, that means I am OK, don't worry about me or it, feel free.

아프니 ? 약사줄까? 됏어요

도와 드릴까요 ? 됐어요

제가 모실께요. 됏다

잠간 들어와요. 됏읍니다

When you hear '말 된 다 ', 되 다 doean't mean 'become' or 'done', but an idiom for 'make sense' or 'logical'

Here are some more phrases associated with 말, usually spoken word.

말 (language, speech)

말도 마라
that does not even begin to describe it, no word to describe, no worth mentioning

말을 내다
broach a subject, leak a word, start a rumor

말을 놓다
to change from polite to a lower form of speech
말 놓 으 세 요 doesn't mean put down words but drop the polite form of words.

stammer; falter; stutter

말을 듣다
act in accordance with someone's request, comply with, obey, listen
or simply to hear words
