아렠 sounds about right.

Thank you for Hangeulanizing my name; I was wondering how it would be spelt.

Joakim, Alec, :D
아렠 is not bad at all but it would be closer to the original sound by writing "알렉".

^_^

Hangul question time!

So, ㄱcan have the sound of G or K. As in the spelling of my name in Korean, 알렉, the K sound of ㄱ comes out. Is this because the ㄱin this case is patch'im? (Spelling?) So again with ㄹ, if it is in the consonant position, it's R but as patch'im, L?

Is this train of thought correct?

Also, what is Jaokim, Hyunwoo?

I'm Joakim 8)

Cheoeum beopgessumnida

Hmm so why is ㄱ better than ㅋ... Maybe I should write my name with that instead of ㅋ.

I recommend you 'set as desktop background' one of the jpgs that Hyunwoo kindly posted. Saves punching randomly to find the right button.

And I have a suggestion for Joakim: that you change your Korean name a little it could be 김요아, which just sounds more Korean.

Haha yeah since I got the kim there in my first name... I should get a good korean middle name as well ;)

알렉,
When the ㄹ is in the last position in the syllable it still has an 'ㄹ' sound but if the next syllable starts with an 'ㄹ' then the two together will sound more like an 'L'. I think that the reason the ㄱ works in your name as opposed to the harder ㅋ is because it does have that stop at the end so the two would sound the same; the ㄱ looks better. :)

Ok, I think I'm starting to understand.

I forgot what it was to feel completely lost in a language.

Thanks everyone, for the input.

Just keep at it, you'll be alright Zolarius (알렉). That's when the phrase "화이팅!!!" comes into play. :D
