cheap place to sleep in Seoul?

Postby lucie » July 3rd, 2008 1:50 pm

안녕하세요,

I'm going to Seoul in August and I was wondering if anyone knew where to stay for a really cheap price. We're 2 students so we don't have lots of money :), do you have any suggestions? I was hoping to be able to stay at my friend's cousin's place but apparently he hasn't got his appartment anymore :(

Thanks for your suggestions !!

Lucie

How cheap do you wanna get?

You can sleep in 찜찔방 (like a sauna) pretty cheap, but i recommend this hostel. The dorm room has only 6 beds and costs 15 dollars. The couple who owns it are in their thirties, the woman worked in the fashion industry in france for like10 years, speaks french, english korean very well. Its a cozy place that I stay at every time I go to seoul

Hi !
Well...the cheaper the better ! We're 2 girls who don't mind little places not so comfortable, so...
I was wondering... in 찜질방, you can only stay one night I guess, you cannot stay longer, right?
well if it's 15 euros, I guess it's alright, but I would really like to find cheaper if it's possible. Actually I don't really think it can be cheaper than that because Korea is at the same prices as in USA or as in Europe I think, no?

15,000.00 KRW = 9.09526 EUR
South Korea Won Euro
1 KRW = 0.000606351 EUR 1 EUR = 1,649.21 KRW

It's not 15 euros! It's about 9! That's pretty cheap i think. 찜찔방 is not intended for longterm stays. It's great if you are really drunk and don't wanna go all the way home though...

I know, I converted it right, I meant 15 euros for the other one you told me !
Because I'm staying 1month in Korea, I can't rely on the jimjilbang. That's what I meant !

If you're staying in Korea for 1 month and want to get a cheap place, 고시원(goshiwon) or 하숙집(hasukjip) is the best choice :)

This is a link to a video showing you around inside a small goshiwon room,

And above is another video showing you a better room :D

Goshiwons are around USD 350 ~ 450 a month :)

Hello !

Thank you for your reply, but I won't stay just in Seoul, I'm planning to travel a little. I'm interested in ideas for short stays (shorter than one month even), I guess it's a monthly rent.
It was very nice of you to give me that idea !

정말 감사합니다
I think I will stay there.
That hostel is located in 홍대. It is such a nice place to stay at ^-^;;

I was personally looking for somewhere nice to stay at in Seoul in January but this just answers my question. Thanks! :)
