Question about Hangul

Postby dung_231659 » November 14th, 2016 6:38 am

Hi Koreanclass101,

I have a question about Hangul please. I am a newbie trying to learn to read and wrting Hangul first and there is one think that makes me confused.

It is about the word 어떻게 or in romanization as "Eotteoke". The first block is clear that 어 stands for "Eo" and the last block stands for "ke", BUT the second block is my problem!

ㄷㄷ sound like "tt" the first consonant, then as second has to be a vowel right? so the "eo" must be the vowel and the stands for "h" sound right? But when looking back to romanization there is no "H" sound. Why? It this a special rule or form? I do not really understand why there is a "H" in the "Bat-chim" section ? Would be nice if you can explain it to me.

Thank you.
