need help in pronunciation of words!

Postby Cyntherea » November 28th, 2009 11:34 am

I recently just bought an english-korean phrasebook to help me practice korean, and I was wondering how do you pronounce 'eo', for example in these words-- 'eoseo oseyo' and 'yeo-deol'? Are there two different pronunciations? :? :? :? (oops sorry I think i have posted this in the wrong section, new in this forum)

It's like the english "or".

'eoseo oseyo' is pronounced something like "or-sor o-say-yo"

and 'yeo-deol' would be something like "yor-dorl"

Romanisation can be quite difficult to figure out, so if you can learn the Korean alphabet, it would be great. And it's not difficult either! :)

? ok, I don't think thats right maybe I'm wrong but I think it sounds more like an "aw" like in "saw" or "law"

so 'eoseo oseyo' would be 'aw-saw oh-say-yo

and 'yeo-deol' should be 'yaw-dawl'
