[photo] out the subway window

Postby hyunwoo » December 9th, 2008 12:45 am

강남에 가는 길이었어요.

I was on my way to 강남 (gangnam) the other day and was on the 지하철 (subway) - and as you probably know if you've already been to Seoul, 2호선 (Line no. 2) runs a large portion of its path overground. So you get to see a lot of Seoul while you're still in the subway :)

그런데 지하철이 중간에 섰어요.

And on that particular day, for some reason, the subway train stopped in the middle of two stations :) So I was just looking out the window, and took this photo.

It looks warm in the photo but actually it was FREEZING outside on that day :D

I was in Korea mid-December a couple years ago, so it was -10C the entire time. From all of my pictures, you would certainly think it's summer. It's quite interesting how Korea can do that. Good picture, though!

Being in Singapore now where it's an average of 30 deg C whole year round, I actually miss living in a temperate country.. but maybe not -10deg!

영하 10도는 너무 추워요 ^^ ;;

그런데 지금은 조금 덜 추워요. It's a little less cold these days :)

That looks so high up @__@

Nice picture though, I like seeing the things other people can see, even if it's just something very "everyday"ish.

Do it! Forget everything I ever said about you needing more sleep~

Don't you ever feel silly though, taking photos of random things? I wanted to take some photos the other day but felt too selfconscious to even get my camera out >__> I thought everyone would look at me and think I was crazy.

Taking harmless everyday-ish photos is not always that easy. One day I took a photo of the entrance of a building site. Not 5 seconds later, one security gard of that site caught up with me and asked me to delete the photo.

I didn't want to argue, so I did erase that photo. But I was wondering whether this guy was just making himself look important and powerful or if it's really forbidden. I know that usually taking photos of military stuff is not allowed, but a construction site??? And usually, in places where you are not allowed to take photos, there are signs everywhere informing you about this.

Some insights anyone?

Yeah, I've heard about people being hassled for taking pictures of buildings. I think it's ridiculous. Maybe it's better to get a telescope lens for taking pictures in the city, so that you're far enough away that security guards can't bother you :lol: .

Erich, I think it's ridiculous that the guy stopped you and told you to delete the photo. Just like you said, a construction site isn't a place where it's prohibited to take photos. I guess he was just being mean.... :evil:
