Study Techniques That Work!!! (vocab)

Postby maxiewawa » January 7th, 2008 7:43 am

Marky先生 from JapanesePod101.com, KoreanClass101.com's progenitor, started a thread about Japanese study techniques. Have a look here:

http://www.japanesepod101.com/forum/vie ... 4817#14817

A lot of Japanese learners seem to use hi-tech gadgets to read through lists of vocab. Most of the techniques Japanese learners use can also be applied to Korean.

I made a video to show the process by which I memorise words:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6AisYnJ8yU
I mention 漢字 learning techniques, not really relevant to Korean though. Everything else I mention I feel is as relevant to my Korean learning as my Japanese.

How do you learn vocab?

Hmm, that would be easier than hauling around a box of flashcards.....I just need to type them up and put em in the iPod. I don't know why that never occurred to me.

John, I'd be happy to send you some I've made, but something tells me that we're at different levels, and that the flashcards I'm making won't be of use to you! :( :( They're quite easy to put together though.

Mine are 320 x 240 pixels, black and white, and I've just saved them as default "save for web" settings.

After creating them, I import them into iPhoto, in a separate "vocab" folder.

In iTunes, I've synced that "vocab" folder with the photos section of my iPod. So whenever I connect my iPod, the new photos in the "vocab" folder are automatically uploaded to my iPod.

Good luck if you end up doing something similar! PM me if you have any problems!

I take all the help I can get, I believe you think I am further along than I really am.

Well then, I'd be happy to zip up something with a few flashcards in it, and send it off! Where can I send it?

Any graphic program will do, MSPaint is possible.

If you'd like I can send you some that I've made.

well this is way off topic but i'm not sure where else to ask it and i know you listen to japanesepod101. I want to download ALL the episodes since the beginning. How can i do this without having to go through 138 pages of podasts and manually downloading each one. Is there like some magical "get all" button?

Sorry, you'll have to download them manually. There used to be a bittorrent option but it just wasn't practical.

Hi maxiewawa... Would you be kind enough to share those Korean flashcards with me? Thank you very much!
