Korean Numbers

Postby Zolarius » August 23rd, 2007 12:47 am

What are the Korean numbers? How are they put together to make bigger numbers? I assume it's similar to the Japanese system.

(Also, how do I convey a "thank you in advance"?)

Thank you in advance.

Yeah, it's very similar to the Japanese system.

1 일
2 이
4 사
5 오
6 육
9 구
10 십

100 백

:D

And, just like in Japanese, we also have a different set of number for counting things, which is :

1 하나
10 열

:D

I hope this helps!! I know this is a lot to remember at once but you will gradually be used to it!! :D

Thank you very much, 휸우씨. (I'm sure I've mispelt your name, sorry!)

The list is extremely thorough; exactly what I was looking for.

Haha. That's right.. :D

Be careful so that it doesn't become '씨팔' which means "F**K"

Be a little bit easy on the '시' sound ^_^!

십팔 (sippal) the number 18 also refers to your "go to song" when you're in 노래방 (kareoke).

What's you 십팔번 (your go to song)?

Mine (for the moment) is 보고싶다 (bogosipda) - 김범수(?) forgot the singer's name :P

Is it correct? :
21, 500 -> 이만천오백 (2 x 10, 000 +1000 +500)

Uffff....

hey there Malgosia and welcome!

21, 500 -> 이만천오백 incorrect
21, 500 -> 이만 일천 오백 correct

224, 000 -> 이십이만 사천 correct

Incredibly close :P

I don't know about the rest of you, but the Korean numbering system was quite challenging for me. I have enough trouble with numbers in English... :oops: actually, does anyone want to confirm my corrections?
