Plan my Holiday

Postby MichaelNZ » October 12th, 2008 5:16 am

안녕하세요 여러분!

On the 21st (of October) I'm going to be going for a quick pre-exam holiday in 서울 from New Zealand. I've got plane tickets and accomodation sorted, I'm going to be staying in Gangnam at 'Novotel'.

So I'm open to suggestions as to places I should go, so far my list consists of:
Namdaemoon
Damdaemoon
Seoul Nation University
Various night clubs and such

So i chose Gangnam because of:

If anyone knows the names of any cool clubs that would be worth going to let me know. I'm 18...or maybe 19, so preferably the sort frequented by a similar age group. I hope they wont be empty this time of year with exams looming and what I know of the strictness of education in Korea, particularly Gangnam.

And of course I intend to be venturing outside of Gangnam too so really anywhere that'll be fun lemme know :)

I'm not really too big on museums or anything but if there's somewhere that you think you can't go to Korea without visiting tell me about too!

감사합니다

마이클

hey MichaelNZ and welcome to the forum!

홍대 has countless nightclubs, bars, and other night-life centered activities that will likely cater to your needs better. Of course there's always 이태원 but truthfully, I'd stick to Hongdae for a good time. It's filled to the brim with college students.

Gangnam will keep you busy, but a good shopping district that shouldn't be missed is 인사동.

I wish you were into museums cause Korea has some great ones ㅜ.ㅜ You sure I can't entice you to check out the National Museum (국립중앙박물관) ? http://www.museum.go.kr/eng/ it is amazing and super cheap to get in - my ticket was free :)

ㅋㅋㅋ
I've heard some 'interesting' things about 이태원...

So now i guess the question is, if i were 홍대, where would i be?

haha yeah 이태원 is everything you've heard.

홍대 is located on Line 2 (Green) and it gets its name from 홍익대학교 or 홍대 for short. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hongdae_area

Ewha does the same type of abbreviation scheme - 이화여자대학교 or just 이대.

Speaking of which, 신촌 has some great coffee shops and 팥빙수 places that are great for meetups.
