Do you know how to talk about something you have to do in Korean? |
Welcome to Three Step Korean Practice by KoreanClass101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to talk about something you have to do. |
Let’s look at the main dialogue. |
Two people are having a conversation. |
따뜻한 아메리카노 한 잔 주세요. 얼마나 걸려요? |
Ttatteuthan americano han jan juseyo. Eolmana geollyeoyo? |
One hot Americano, please. How long will it take? |
네, 알겠습니다. 15분 정도 기다리셔야 해요. |
Ne, algetseumnida. Sibobun jeongdo gidarisyeoya haeyo. |
Alright. You'll have to wait about 15 minutes. |
Here, because the verb stem 기다리시 (gidarisi) ends in the vowel ㅣ (i), we use the ending -어야. When combined with the honorific marker 시, this becomes 셔야. |
Let’s practice with this grammar more in this lesson. |
