Becky: Hi everyone, and welcome back to KoreanClass101.com. I'm Becky.
Jaehwi: And I'm Jaehwi!
Becky: This is Must-Know Korean Slang Words &Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 11. In this lesson, you'll learn Slang Verbs.
Becky: Keep in mind that just like any other Korean verb, these expressions follow the same patterns.
Jaehwi: So, you’ll need to follow verb conjugation rules.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Becky: The expressions you'll be learning in this lesson are:
Jaehwi: 빵터지다
Jaehwi: 오글거리다
Jaehwi: 웃프다
Jaehwi: 얼굴이 착하다
Becky: Jaehwi, what's our first expression?
Jaehwi: 빵터지다
Becky: literally meaning "burst out.”
Jaehwi: 빵터지다 (ppangteojida)
Becky: is a combination of two words which mean
“pop” and “explode.” People use it to say "to crack up."
Jaehwi: [SLOW] 빵터지다 [NORMAL] 빵터지다

Becky: Use this slang expression when someone bursts out laughing.
Becky: Now let's hear an example sentence.

Jaehwi: [NORMAL] 이 사진 보면 빵터져.
Becky: Okay, what's the next expression?
Jaehwi: 오글거리다
Becky: literally meaning "wiggle." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "cringe."

Becky: Let's hear an example sentence.

Jaehwi: [NORMAL] 오글거리는 유머야.
Becky: Okay, what's our next expression?
Jaehwi: 웃프다
Becky: It's an abbreviation for the expression…
Jaehwi: 웃기고 슬프다 (utkkigo seulpeuda)
Becky: which means "funny and sad." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "funny and sad at the same time."
Jaehwi: [SLOW] 웃프다 [NORMAL] 웃프다
Becky: Listeners, please repeat.

Becky: Use this slang expression when describing a situation which is funny and sad at the same time, for example, when your friend was almost fired because of a stupid mistake.

Becky: "I watched a video that is funny and sad."
Jaehwi: [NORMAL] 웃픈 비디오를 봤어.
Becky: Okay, what's the last expression?
Jaehwi: 얼굴이 착하다
Becky: literally meaning "Your face is kind." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be good-looking” or “you’re good-looking.”
Jaehwi: [SLOW] 얼굴이 착하다 [NORMAL] 얼굴이 착하다

Becky: Use this slang expression when you refer to someone who is beautiful or handsome.
Becky: Now let's hear an example sentence.

Becky: "The guy whom I met yesterday was good-looking."
Jaehwi: [NORMAL] 어제 그 남자는 얼굴이 착했어.
