| Dana: In this lesson, you'll learn a sentence pattern for talking about what you like the most. |

| Dana: "My favorite color is blue." |
| Jaehwi: 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) |
| Jaehwi: [slow] 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) |
| Dana: The pattern for talking about what you like the most has 3 elements. First, the noun. In this case, it’s "blue." |
| Jaehwi: 파란색 (paransaek). |
| Dana: Second, the object marking particle. |
| Jaehwi: 을 (eul). |
| Dana: Third, the adverb plus verb stem plus postposition… |
| Jaehwi: ㅂ(b) + 니다 (nida). |
| Jaehwi: 제일 좋아합니다 (jeil joahamnida). |
| Dana: All together, we have "My favorite color is blue." |
| Jaehwi: 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) [slow] 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) [normal] 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) |
| Dana: If the word preceding this phrase ends with a vowel, you would use the particle… |
| Jaehwi: 를 (reul), |
| Dana: and if the word ends with a consonant, you use… |
| Jaehwi: 을 (eul). |
| Jaehwi: 파란색을 제일 좋아합니다. (paransegeul jeil joahamnida) |
| Dana: So remember, simply state what your favorite thing is, then add the phrase… |
| Jaehwi: 을／를 좋아합니다 (eul/reul jeil joahamnida). |
| Dana: Here’s another example meaning, "My favorite food is kimbap." First, say the noun, "kimbap." |
| Jaehwi: 김밥 (kimbap). |
| Dana: Second, use the object marking particle. |
| Jaehwi: 을 (eul). |
| Dana: Third, you add the adverb plus verb stem pluspostposition… |
| Jaehwi: ㅂ(b) + 니다 (nida). |
| Jaehwi: 제일 좋아합니다. (jeil joahamnida). |
