When I read, I want you to pay attention to the WH question,

Did you see where 어디 was used in the dialogue?

Yes, this is a key word that forms a question.
뉴욕에서 왔어요.
(Nyuyogeseo wasseoyo.)
Means I came from New York or I'm from New York.
In this case
저는
(Jeoneun)
I is omitted.
