Chigusa: Alright, listeners. |
Peter: Are you an active learner or a passive learner? |
Chigusa: Do you even know? |
Peter: Here’s the difference. |
Chigusa: ‘Active learning’ means you’re actively engaging with learning material and focusing on it. |
Peter: For example, you’re reading in your target language... |
Chigusa: ...you’re looking up words, you’re translating ... |
Peter: ...you’re memorizing phrases or you’re speaking out loud. |
Chigusa: So, you’re focused on what you’re learning. Nothing else. |
Peter: Passive learning is different. It requires less concentration. |
Chigusa: Yeah, it’s usually done when you’re doing something else... |
Peter: ...for example, doing chores, driving to work or taking the train. |
Chigusa: You could be listening to an audio lesson or watching a video lesson... |
Peter: But, the difference is, you’re not focused on picking apart every single word. |
Chigusa: You’re just passively taking the language in. |
Peter: So listeners, how do you learn? |
Chigusa: Are you actively engaged or do you passively learn on the go? Or do you mix it up? |
Peter: Let us know in the comments. |
Chigusa: Now, here’s how you can learn both ways with our lessons. |
Peter: If you’re a passive learner... |
Chigusa: ...if you’re on the go and can’t really pay too much attention... |
Peter: Just play any audio or video lesson. It’s as easy as that. |
Chigusa: You can learn on the go with our FREE Innovative Language 101 App... |
Peter: ...for the Android, iPhone and iPad. |
Chigusa: Now, if you want to passively learn words and phrases.... |
Peter: ...then check out our brand new Vocabulary Slideshow. |
Chigusa: This Premium study tool is available on every lesson. Just press play... |
Peter: ...and sit back and review the words. You can even put the slideshow on loop... |
Chigusa: ..and immerse yourself in the language. With every slide, you get the word... |
Peter: ...the audio pronunciation, the translation... |
Chigusa: ...and sample sentences. |
Peter: Now, If you’re an active learner, here are 5 tactics you can use right now. |
Chigusa: Number 1 - Listen or watch a lesson and... read along with the translations. |
Peter: You get complete translations in the lesson notes and the line-by-line dialogue. |
Chigusa: This will make your reading, comprehension and listening skills skyrocket. |
Peter: The best part is, you’ll understand every single word. The translations are right in front of you. |
Chigusa: Number 2 - Repeat the lesson dialogue as you hear it. |
Peter: This is called shadowing and it will boost your speaking skills... guaranteed. |
Chigusa: Just repeat the lines that you hear until you can speak with confidence. |
Peter: To make it even easier, you also get the lines with the dialogue study tool... |
Chigusa: ...and the lesson notes for every lesson. |
Peter: ...so you can read them out loud as you hear them in the lesson. |
Chigusa: Number 3 - Record yourself with our voice recorder in the dialogue study tool... |
Peter: ...to perfect your pronunciation and see how close you are to a native speaker. |
Chigusa: Number 4 - If you want to boost your vocabulary... |
Peter: ..study words with our smart flashcards. |
Chigusa: They sort the words for you. So, you get the harder words more often.... |
Peter: ...until you master them. And the easy ones show up now and then to refresh your memory. |
Chigusa: And Number 5 – Ask questions! Leave a comment in the comment section.. |
Peter: Or if you’re a Premium PLUS user, you get your very own teacher... |
Chigusa: ...and you can ask them to review and correct your writing and speaking... |
Peter: You can also ask for learning advice and get all of your questions answered. |
Chigusa: Listeners, both are great ways to learn, depending on your situation. |
Peter: If you have some quiet time and can focus, go for active learning. |
Chigusa: If you’re on the go or multi-tasking, passive learning is the way to go. |
Peter: Whichever your style is... |
Chigusa: you can apply both with our language learning program. |
Peter: And… |
