Hi guys,

I've been studying Korean for about a year and two months (and enjoying it alot!). Through fairy tales, Korean tv show and music (of course also talking with my friends) And sometimes I like writing diaries emails and poems in Korean.

When I was in high school I often wrote bad depressing poetry. Now, when I look at the stuff I wrote then it's embarassing, cause it's so bad!

But I started writing poetry again, this time in Korean. Since I'm not good yet, probably these poems will be boring too but since it's good practice, I think it's okay.

I was washing my hands in a washroom when I had this strange idea. We use paper towel for like 2 seconds then throw it into the garbage. Doesn't it seem wasteful? That thought prompted me to write this poem.

Tissue's life

Long time waiting
Faithful
Like a servant
If people need it
When hurt, sad, happy
For a moment
Helping
Then
Becomes disgusting trash

Short life

잘 못 쓴 것 있으면 얘기해주세요. ^^;
Please correct my mistakes...

Try writing a small poem in a korean too!

Marie

Please note: Since I am not good at Korean yet, my translations are pretty shitty. Sorry

Marie, for just one year and two months, your Korean is excellent! I have been studying for only two months now. I hope that a year from now, I will be as good at it as you. I saw your YouTube video - you speak very comfortably. I am jealous.

I used to write depressing poetry in high school as well - I had caught the Goth Bug  Don't you hate looking back at things you did before, and finding them to be embarrassing? I guess everyone has done the same ant some point.

I like the English translation of your poem (I can't read the Korean yet, but this is good study material for me). I love to write haiku (in English), and I was just wondering, is there a similar poetry form in Korean? People have been known to write haiku in a number of different languages, but I am not sure if the cadence is right in Korean for it.
On Skype, I'm nenuphar_ (just like that with the underline character ending)
