KOREAN KEYBOARD

You need to change to Korean language before typing in Korean. The steps you've taken have only made it possible to type in Korean, but you need to select it on the language bar. A little icon appears in the bottom right that says "EN" for 'English' or maybe 'DE' for Deutsch. Change it to Korean.

Sorry I can't give you any more specifics, I've been using a mac for months now and my windows might be a little rusty!

try right clicking on the toolbar and choose toolbars then language bar then click on the ime icon and click show the language bar......maybe I misunderstood where your stuck.

Try selecting "Microsoft IME" instead of "Korean Input System" when adding a new keyboard on Textdienste und Eingabesprachen. Pressing Left Alt + Shift switches between keyboards too.
(I'm using Windows Vista so it may be different.)

The IME was there already but somehow hidden (u can rarely see it in the 2nd pic, the white point is the rest of the hidden bar -.-) so I couldn*t see it.

go buy the korean keyboard sticker and stick it on your current keyboard...it work pretty good!

Does anyone have any experience with the other Korean keyboard layouts, the ones that mix together the consonants and vowels rather than having them separate on left and right hands? I believe it is called 세벌식. Or is that similar to Dvorak where only a small minority use it?

That's an interesting question...

I've never seen anything other than the standard (which I think is called 2-set). my guess is that it is in minority use, maybe for certain professions, etc...

uhm, i have problems typing in korean..
i have installed japanese & korean ime before.
the japanese one works ok.
i can type japanese with the keyboard..
ほら。。。。

but not with korean.
there's nothing in there that says "soft keyboard"
does that mean i have to know all the korean characters printed on the keyboard??
i can only type in korean thru the "Handwriting Tool" located at the pad menu..
oh it takes a lot of time.. so help would be so much appreciated

It seems like you're using Windows Vista (?) - I've never seen anything else that has the handwriting tool. If you are using Vista, try this website:

no. I am using Windows Xp. Well, I don't know what went wrong, because I did reboot my OS. Before, I can also use and type thru the IME. But now, It's all messed up.

Pretty cool page with the keyboard layout!

Speaking of Declan, I like the graphical keyboard that they have in their software. It's too bad there's nothing like that in XP (as far as I know).
Sometimes I type with the keyboard in Declan Korean Dictionary, and copy-and-paste the words over (mainly to emails), but it's troublesome to do something like that for something lengthy (assuming I had that kind of skill and knowledge, which I don't yet ).

Well, it's a question a bit silly but ...
When you have written the syllable and can fit a consonant at the end, which key you use to go to the next syllable?
My method is slow...
