Am I saying it right?

Postby cellobassviolin » August 17th, 2009 6:25 am

I'm very full. I'm not eating lunch.
jin-jja 진짜 bae-beul-leo 배블르. jeom-sim 점심 an 안 meog-eo 먹어.

Is this correct?

I'm not sure about this one. Just a try.

Good.
And more colloquial ones...

진짜 배불러. 점심 안 먹어. (반말)
진짜 배불러요. 점심 안 먹어요. (존대말)

너무 배불러. 점심 안 먹을래. (반말)
너무 배불러요. 점심 안 먹을래요. (존대말)

:)

You're welcome cellobassviolin.

manyakumi ssi, I'm just wondering. What will be the difference if instead of using 안, I use 못?

I'm still confused. :(

진짜 배불러. 점심을 안 먹어.
진짜 배불러. 점심을 못 먹어.

Thanks. :D

There is no difference in this case.
Because the reason of not eating turned out by saying "진짜 배불러"

As you know,
안 + verb shows the speaker's will. (don't)
못 + verb shows the situation that doesn't let the speaker do something. (can't)

If you didn't write that 진짜 배불러 before it,
the meanings of 점심 안 먹어 and 점심 못 먹어 could become quite different.

The former one could mean..
I don't eat lunch. (I won't eat because of having no appetite or so)

The latter one could mean..
I can't eat lunch. (because of having no time, money, food... etc)

:)
