I can’t understand the difference between the verb form when it comes to 살고 있다 and 산다. Please explain it to me.

In the lesson notes the Hangul seems to be chinese? the same thing happens in a lot of the other lesson pdfs too. When there is the option to download a lesson notes-lite, this doesn’t happen, but those aren’t always offered. Does anyone know what’s going on and how I can fix it?
