Dialogue

Lesson Transcript

Do you know how to ask for permission to do something in Korean?
Welcome to Three Step Korean Practice by KoreanClass101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to ask for permission to do something.
Let’s look at the main dialogue.
Two people are having a conversation.
아빠 차 좀 빌려도 돼요?
Appa cha jom billyeodo dwaeyo?
Dad, may I borrow your car?
어디 가려고?
Eodi garyeogo?
Where are you going?
This is an example of the -아/어/해도 돼요 grammar pattern.
This pattern is used when asking for permission to do something, similar to “May I...?” or “Is it okay if I...?” in English.
Let’s practice with this grammar more in this lesson.
