INTRODUCTION |
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric. |
Lyn: And I'm Lyn. |
Eric: And welcome to Must-Know Korean Sentence Structures, Season 1, Lesson 10. Asking About Location or Position. |
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for asking about location or position. |
PATTERN |
Eric: For example, |
Eric: "Where are we meeting?" |
Lyn: μ΄λμμ λ§λμ? (eodieseo mannayo?) |
Lyn: [slow] μ΄λμμ λ§λμ? (eodieseo mannayo?) |
Eric: The pattern for asking about location or position has 4 elements. First, a pronoun, "where." |
Lyn: μ΄λ (eodi). |
Eric: Second, a location marking particle. |
Lyn: μμ (eseo). |
Eric: Third, a verb stem, "to meet." |
Lyn: λ§λ- (manna). |
Eric: And last, a sentence-ending particle. |
Lyn: μ (yo). |
Eric: Altogether, we have.. "Where are we meeting?" |
Lyn: μ΄λμμ λ§λμ? (eodieseo mannayo?) [slow] μ΄λμμ λ§λμ? (eodieseo mannayo?) [normal] μ΄λμμ λ§λμ? (eodieseo mannayo?) |

Lyn: μμ (eseo) |
Erin: Letβs hear the full sentence once again. |

Eric: Here is another example meaning, "Where does it stop?" First, a pronoun, "where." |
Lyn: μ΄λ (eodi). |
Eric: Second, a location marking particle. |
Lyn: μμ (eseo). |
Eric: Third, a verb stem, "to stop." |
Lyn: μ- (seo). |
Eric: And last, a sentence-ending particle. |
Lyn: μ (yo). |
Eric: Altogether we have.. |
Lyn: μ΄λμμ μμ? (eodieseo seoyo? ) [slow] μ΄λμμ μμ? (eodieseo seoyo? ) [normal] μ΄λμμ μμ? (eodieseo seoyo? ) |
Eric: "Where does it stop?" |
[pause] |
Lyn: μ΄λμμ μμ? (eodieseo seoyo? ) |
Eric: How do you say - "Where do you work out?" To give you a hint, "work out" in Korean is.. |
Lyn: μ΄λν΄μ (undonghaeyo). [slow] μ΄λν΄μ (undonghaeyo). [normal] μ΄λν΄μ (undonghaeyo). |
Eric: Where do you work out? |
