INTRODUCTION
Mihyeon: ์•ˆ๋…•ํ•˜์„ธ์š”. ๋ฏธํ˜„์ž…๋‹ˆ๋‹ค.
Junsu: Hi everyone. I am Junsu.
Hyunwoo: And I am Hyunwoo.
Junsu:I do like it.
Hyunwoo: This is the first part in the second mini-series in this lower intermediate level and I am joined by two lovely ladies, Mihyeon and Junsu.
Hyunwoo: ๋ฏธํ˜„์”จ, ์š”์ฆ˜ ์ •๋ง ๋ฅ์ฃ ?
Mihyeon: ๋„ค. ๋ฌด๋”์›Œ์š”.
Hyunwoo: ๋ฌด๋”์›Œ์š”? What does that mean?
Junsu: It means to be hot and humid.

Hyunwoo: But you said, it is hot ๋ฅ๊ธฐ๋Š” ๋”์›Œ์š”. And thatโ€™s exactly what we are going to learn today but before we look at this new expression, letโ€™s review what we learned before a little bit. ์ค€์ˆ˜์”จ, ์ง€๋‚œ ์‹œ๊ฐ„์— ์šฐ๋ฆฌ ๋ญ ๋ฐฐ์› ์ฃ ?
Junsu: Well in the previous lesson, we learned how to say even before you said that, I was going to do something, something which was
Mihyeon: ๊ทธ๋ ‡์ง€ ์•Š์•„๋„ ๋ญ๋ญ ํ•˜๋ ค๊ณ  ํ–ˆ์–ด์š”.

Hyunwoo: Oh okay so please give me an example sentence.
Mihyeon: ๊ทธ๊ฒŒ ์˜ˆ๋ฌธ์ด์—ˆ์–ด์š”.
Hyunwoo: Oh I see. That was the example sentence. So you said, yeah, even before you mentioned it, I was going to do it. I was going to give you the example sentence. Right, that was a good example sentence inside an example sentence. So again what are we going to learn today?
Junsu: Today we are going to learn something very interesting. Going to look at how to emphasize things and say something like I did do it, I do like it and so on.
Hyunwoo: Okay I think todayโ€™s lesson will be another very interesting one. So ์˜ค๋Š˜์˜ ๋Œ€ํ™”๋Š” todayโ€™s lesson ๋ˆ„๊ตฌ์™€ ๋ˆ„๊ตฌ ์‚ฌ์ด์˜ ๋Œ€ํ™”์˜ˆ์š”, ๋ฏธํ˜„์”จ?

Junsu: Yeah I think I have seen a lot. I had about two of them in my class in middle school.
Hyunwoo: But Mihyeon, you are the only Mihyeon that I actually know in person.

Hyunwoo: Yeah but I disagree because if it is something important, why would he say nothing even when he actually met Jeongho?
Junsu: Maybe he was going to tell him he did something wrong but then he changed his mind.
Hyunwoo: Yeah I think he chickened out.

Junsu: To seek or search for something because you donโ€™t know where it is. So it means to look for.
Mihyeon: ๋ญ ์ฐพ์œผ์„ธ์š”?
Junsu: What are you looking for?
Mihyeon: ์ €์˜ ์ด์ƒํ˜•์„ ์ฐพ๊ณ  ์žˆ์–ด์š”.

Junsu: No matter how hard I look for it, I cannot find it.
Hyunwoo: Yeah this is a very interesting sentence because in one sentence, we have two meanings of the verb ์ฐพ๋‹ค.
Junsu: In the Korean language, ์ฐพ๋‹ค has two meanings which is to look for and to find.
Hyunwoo: Though unlike in English where you have to distinguish between the two verbs, to look for and to find, in Korean, you can just use the one word ์ฐพ๋‹ค for both meanings. So this could be handy but on the other hand, it could also be confusing sometimes. So be sure to look at the context to see what it really means. So for example, I can say ๋ฏธํ˜„์”จ, ์ด์ƒํ˜• ์ฐพ์•˜์–ด์š”? Did you find your dream man?
Mihyeon: ์ง€๊ธˆ๋„ ์ฐพ๊ณ  ์žˆ์–ด์š”.

Lesson focus

Hyunwoo: Whatโ€™s todayโ€™s grammar point?
Junsu: ์•„๊นŒ ๋งํ•œ ๊ฒƒ ์ฒ˜๋Ÿผ. Like we mentioned earlier, todayโ€™s grammar point is used when you want to emphasize something like I did do it or I do like it and so on.
Hyunwoo: Yeah and if you look at the construction of this grammar pattern, fairly simple. You take the verb stem and add.
Mihyeon: ๊ธฐ๋Š”
Hyunwoo: At the end of the verb stem and you use the same verb again and then the second time the verb is used, it could be in the past tense, the future tense or in the plain form of the verb. So for example
Mihyeon: ์•Œ๋‹ค
Junsu: To know.
Mihyeon: ์•Œ๊ธฐ๋Š” ์•Œ์•„์š”.
Junsu: I do know it.
Mihyeon: ์ฐฉํ•˜๋‹ค
Junsu: To be nice as in personality.
Mihyeon: ์ฐฉํ•˜๊ธฐ๋Š” ์ฐฉํ•ด์š”.
Junsu: He is nice.
Hyunwoo: But something, something is implied. He is nice but lazy. He is nice but what not. So how was it used in todayโ€™s dialogue?
Mihyeon: ๋„ค, ์˜ค๋Š˜ ๋Œ€ํ™”์—์„œ๋Š” ์ •ํ˜ธ๊ฐ€ ๋ณด๊ธฐ๋Š” ๋ดค์–ด๋ผ๊ณ  ์ด์•ผ๊ธฐํ–ˆ์–ด์š”.
