also really enjoying the fun lessons, not sure if anyone has mentioned yet but audio in this list has been shuffled and mismatched with the flash cards.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you for posting! If you have any other questions regarding vocabulary or anything else related to Korean studies, please let us know.
Thanks so much for the help and explanations! I really appreciate it. I didn't expect to get a reply, honestly. I love learning new vocabulary in Korean, even though I can't retain what I learn. I need to figure that out.:flushed::sweat_smile:
Thanks for posting.
The Korean title for the movie 'Warm Bodies' was '웜 바디스'. With the popularity of TV programs like 'The Walking Dead', zombies are popular in Korea (especially in the summer, when they have zombie events where people have to run through a maze full of zombies and try to survive). 'Fear the Walking Dead' is '피어 더 워킹 데드'. The movies 'Rec' and 'Quarantine' were written as '알이씨(REC)' and '쿼런틴', respectively.
I noticed that you have 'Patient Zero' in your vocabulary list and am wondering if you listen to the 'Zombies, Run' app. I am not sure how to translate this, maybe '환자 제로'. As for the rest of your list, not sure if this will be 'correct' translation. I'll focus mainly the words related to the zombie apocalypse.
bite/zombie bite --좀비에게 물리다
“He’s/She’s been bitten!” or “They’ve been bitten!”-- '(좀비에게) 물렸어!'
walking slowly/shambling-- '느리게 걷는'
“Are you alive?”--'살아 있어?'
“Where is a safe place/shelter?”--'안전한 곳은 어디야?'
“Hello? Please help me. I’m alive. I have not been bitten.”--'여보세요? 도와주세요. 살아있어요. 물리지 않았어요'
How many people are alive?--'생존자는 몇 명입니까?'
zombie horde/horde of zombies--좀비 떼
medium of infection-- 감염 매체
body--(if you're referring to a dead body)사체/시체. If you're referring to a person's body, 몸
corpse--사체/시체 (same word as 'body' if dead)
reanimated corpse-- 되살아난 사체/시체
Are zombies considered scary in Korean culture?
I don't have a favorite classic zombie movie, but I liked Warm Bodies. It was a novel by Isaac Marion and also a movie. That had a Romeo and Juliet twist between zombies and humans. What's the Korean title of the novel/movie?
I guess I like The Walking Dead tv series, too. But, it's already up there as 워킹 데드
[woking dedeu/Walking Dead]. I like the prequel series, too.. The series is called Fear the Walking Dead. What's this in Korean?
I also liked the Spanish horror films in the Rec [Record] series that inspired the American horror films "Quarantine" and "Quarantine 2. What are the names of these movies [Rec] and "Quarantine" in Korean? What's the word for "Quarantine" and "Isolation" in Korean?
I liked reading the Web-comic/Webtoon manwha Dead Days [데드데이즈]/Dead Days 0 [데드데이즈 0]. That was fun. I'm still reading this.
What are the following words in Korean:
"He's/She's been bitten!" or "They've been bitten!"
"Are you alive?"
"Where is a safe place/shelter?"
"Hello? Please help me. I'm alive. I have not been bitten."
How many people are alive?
Water [민물; minmul]
zombie horde/horde of zombies
[Names of places, cities, towns, landmarks, mountains, etc....]
medium of infection
If you could help with some of these, that'll be great! The you gave vocabulary list is rather small, and a lot of audio is missing. I'm going to stop myself here. Thanks. I really liked learning about zombies in Korean. :D
