| Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| 늦어서 죄송해요. (Neujeoseo joesonghaeyo.) |
| 괜찮아요. (Gwaenchannayo.) |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| 늦어서 죄송해요. (Neujeoseo joesonghaeyo.) |
| “I'm sorry for being late.” |
| 괜찮아요. (Gwaenchannayo.) |
| “Don't worry about it.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say "I'm sorry for [reason]." |
| The pattern is: |
| [reason] 죄송해요. ([reason] joesonghaeyo.) |
| This Korean sentence literally translates as "[reason] Very sorry." But it means "I'm sorry for [reason].". |
| For example: |
| "I'm sorry for being late." |
| 늦어서 죄송해요., 늦어서 죄송해요. (Neujeoseo joesonghaeyo., Neujeoseo joesonghaeyo.) |
| Now, how do you respond that it's okay? |
| 괜찮아요. (Gwaenchannayo.) |
| "Don't worry about it." |
| Listen to it again: |
| 괜찮아요., 괜찮아요. (Gwaenchannayo., Gwaenchannayo.) |
| This Korean sentence translates as "Alright." But it means "Don't worry about it." |
