Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you good at?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about what you’re good at doing.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
무엇을 잘 해요? (Mueoseul jal haeyo?)
외국어를 잘 해요. (Oegugeoreul jal haeyo.)
Once more with the English translation.
무엇을 잘 해요? (Mueoseul jal haeyo?)
“What are you good at?”
외국어를 잘 해요. (Oegugeoreul jal haeyo.)
“I'm good at languages.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you good at?”
That's:
무엇을 잘 해요? (Mueoseul jal haeyo?)
Listen to it again:
무엇을 잘 해요?, 무엇을 잘 해요? (Mueoseul jal haeyo?, Mueoseul jal haeyo?)
This Korean sentence literally translates as “What good do?” But it means “What are you good at?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
[skill]을/를 잘 해요. ([skill]eul/reul jal haeyo.)
This Korean sentence literally translates as “[skill] good at.” But it means “I'm good at [skill].”.
For example:
“I'm good at languages.”
외국어를 잘 해요., 외국어를 잘 해요. (Oegugeoreul jal haeyo., Oegugeoreul jal haeyo.)
