Hi, everyone, welcome back to Korean Weekly Words. In this video, we'll be talking about the topic that you guys really want to have, Top 5 K-pop Songs to Learn Korean. So K-pop is for Korean pop songs, you know recently we started having more and more idol groups, which have a lot of young girls and boys in the groups, and their songs are great, their dances are great, characters are great. So actually I feel that learning songs is one of the good way to improve your language. Alright, so let's see what kind of songs we have in this video. Let's begin!
1. 투애니원 - 아이러브유 (Tuaeniwon - Aireobeuyu) "2NE1 - I Love You"
So 2NE1 is one of the most popular Korean girl groups, we say girl group, to refer to the idol groups with girls. Half of the song is in English and the other half is Korean. So you know if you speak English, you already master the first half, in this song it kept saying 아직 잘 몰라. (Ajik jal molla.)
Like, 아직(Ajik) means “yet”, 잘(jal) means “well”, and 몰라(molla) means “do not know”; so it means "I don't know yet."
This is kind of a common phrase between, you know, those who are not sure if they can be a couple or not, so in that case they can say 아직 잘 몰라. (Ajik jal molla.) I love you, but I don't know about it yet.
2. 샤이니 - 헬로우 (Syaini - Hellou) "SHINee - Hello"
Yeah I can see the SHINee is very popular in Korea now, and also in other countries. Their characters are very good, they are very polite and they are also very passionate. I think that's why many people like Korean boy bands, because you can see that they really work hard, you can easily sing the song at karaoke, even though you are at a very beginning level of Korean. If you love someone, if you want to confess your love, I think this is the phrase you can say
잠시 얘기할래요? (Jamsi yegihallaeyo?) "Do you have a moment to talk?"
3. 엑소 - 으르렁 (Ekso - Eureureong) "EXO - Growl"
The song might be a little bit difficult for someone who is an absolute beginner or beginner level, but you can try, they can be a good song to show your Korean ability to your friends at karaoke. The particle 면(myeon) which means “if”, for example,
물러서지 않으면 다칠지 몰라. (Mulleoseoji aneumyeon dachilji molla.) "If you do not step back, you’ll get hurt."
Talking about “if” is very challenging in Korean because we have to conjugate verbs and put a particle. If you listen to the song again and again, and then I think you can master a way to say if in Korean.
4. 소녀시대 - Gee (Sonyeosidae - Ji) "Girls' Generation - Gee“
I love Girls’ Generation, actually. I think this is the song that you can sing for everyone. So if you are working at a Korean company and if you have to pick a song that can sing for your supervisors, your boss, at karaoke, for company gathering, I think this is the song you can try, because all of them would know and all of them will sing with you. It's kind of easy song because it's just keep saying Gee Gee Gee Gee, like you know the same things again and again, and there are also some interesting words that i want to introduce to you.
반짝반짝 (banjjakbanjjak), which means something shiny shiny. You know, when you wash dishes and it’s really shiny, you can say 반짝반짝 (banjjakbanjjak).
Or you can see the stars and say 별표반짝반짝 (byeolpyo banjjakbanjjak), “star is shiny and shiny”.
5. 빅뱅 - 판타스틱 베이비 (Bikbaeng - Pantastik Beibi) "BIGBANG - Fantastic Baby"
I recently started listening to this song because the dances are good, like, the performance is good, also useful phrases too, like saying RA at the end, to give the order to the other people, just means something, like, do something, or let's do something. So 붙다(butda) is the verb meaning “to join”, but now if you just add RA at the end and conjugated the verb a little bit, it says 붙어라. (Buteora.) "Join" as the order, or “let’s join”.
So there's something like that at the beginning of the song, especially, like, to use a lot of sentences with RA to mean, do this, let's do this, so when you keep listening to the song, I think you can get used to how to use particle RA to give an order. And if you're in Korea I think you get a lot of chance to go to a karaoke, so if you wanna study Korean in a little bit more entertaining way. I think these are the perfect songs for you, and if you want to learn more about this kind of Kpop songs they can help you improve your Korean, check out the list below and learn more about that. And i'll see you next time. 다음 시간에 뵙겠습니다 (Daeum sigane boepgetsseumnida) 안녕히 계세요 (annyeonghi gyeseyo).
