He says in Korean, “You know, my birthday is next week.” You respond in Korean, “That’s great. We should have a party.” He replies in Korean, “Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking…and I want to get some friends together for some beers at the bar down the street.” You remind your brother in Korean, “Well, you’re only seventeen, so you’re a little young yet to enjoy some beers.” “That’s exactly why I’m here,” he says in Korean. He adds in Korean, “Since you’re a few years older and allowed to buy and drink beer, I want to borrow your ID so I can go to the bar and buy a few beers with my older buddies.” You start to lecture him in Korean about the importance of not breaking the rules, and you ask him in Korean, “What if you get caught?” Then he points out in Korean, “Well, what did you do for beer before you were old enough to buy it?” He makes a fair point…

Learn Korean with KoreanClass101.com! It’s always fun, at least at first, to break the rules. But when you’re caught and trouble catches up with you, even in Korea, it’s time to suck it up and deal with the consequences. You listen patiently as your superior tells you in Korean all the things you shouldn’t do. As your boss drones on, the way he is listing things in Korean almost forms a song. As you drift in and out of paying attention to his Korean lecture, you suddenly hear him say in Korean, “You shouldn’t sleep at night.” What? He already caught you catching a nap and told you earlier in his diatribe in Korean, “You can’t take an afternoon nap.” You wonder to yourself in Korean, “If I can never sleep, how much caffeine should he buy for me?” Your superior responds in Korean, “What was that?” Oops, did you just say that aloud?
