That Korean guy in the IT department absolutely will not take no for an answer! He is very nice, and you have to admit, he is very good-looking, but you do not date people you work with! How many times do you have to tell him? Every Friday it’s the same thing…here he comes now! Right away he asks in Korean, “shall we go to Seoul and get some dinner?” “No,” you answer in Korean, “I shall go home and eat alone.” So, he asks in Korean, “shall I drive you home and save you some cab money?” Routinely, you answer him in Korean, “no, I shall spend my money and take a cab, thank you.” Pressing on, he asks in Korean, “shall we go into Seoul and do some shopping?” Growing impatient with this ritual, you tell him in Korean, “no, I went to Seoul last week and shopped all day!!” Seeming to know he has worn you down this week, he attempts one more time in Korean, “shall we go dancing and enjoy the Sinchon nightlife just this once…please?” Noticing for the first time he has really cute dimples, you reply in Korean, “If you will buy me a drink and just be quiet then we can go…ONCE!”

The job helps you practice speaking Korean and they pay you for it! What a great way to learn Korean, right? Well…you thought so, too…at first. Last night you watched the little angels that live across the street. Everything was going great for about the first ten minutes. After that the kids wouldn’t do anything you said! In fact, it seemed like they did just the opposite of everything you said! You began to question whether they even understood what you were saying to them in Korean…is your Korean that bad?? The only practice you have gotten tonight in speaking Korean is demanding, “let’s…” repeatedly! Are you saying it right?
