You are sitting in your Korean classroom awaiting the teacher’s arrival. While you wait, you listen to your Korean classmates speaking Korean to each other. You try to keep up with their conversations, but they speak Korean too fast for you! Finally, the Korean teacher enters the classroom, pops a DVD into the player, and tells everyone in Korean, “it’s too loud, get quiet!” She announces that you are all going to watch an English news program from last night and write a response paper over it afterwards. From across the classroom, you hear the voices of your Korean classmates…it sounds as if they are protesting! One student yells at the teacher in Korean, “it’s too fast!” Another yells in Korean, “it’s too boring!” Of course, the class suck-up yells in Korean, “I think it’s too slow!” On the other hand, you have no idea what has everyone upset because you are not familiar with the Korean phrase they are using. At least the video will be easy for you!
