Welcome to the KoreanClass101.com User Guide! This guide will get you started using the many tools and features that the KoreanClass101.com website offers. The guide will be split into three sections: features accessible to our Free, Basic, and Premium subscribers. Free Features

Audio
All of our podcasts are free to download and listen to. For information on how to subscribe to our program using iTunes or Juice, please see Technical Questions You can also listen to our audio in any MP3 capable audio player, as well as straight from the KoreanClass101.com website. To manually download the audio and listen using your favorite audio player, simply right-click (control-click for uni-button Mac users) the Audio link and choose to save the file to your computer. To listen to the audio on our website (), either click Play or Popup and the file will immediately begin buffering and playing.

As always, the comments feature is available to anyone who visits the KoreanClass101.com website. To access the comments, simply click the Comments link below a post, and post any questions or comments that you might have. Our community is always more than willing to help each other out.

In addition to Comments, our Forum provides an outlet for more organized and varied discussions. You can access the Forum from the Forum link on the top menu bar. Subscribers who have signed up on our site will have had a forum account automatically created for them. If you are logged into the site, you will also automatically be logged in to the Forum. For Free users who have not signed up for a Free Trial or paid subscription, you will need to manually create a forum account. After clicking on the Forum link in the top bar, click on the Register link at the top of the forums. Follow the directions there to create your account.

Basic Subscription Features

PDFs
In addition to all of the features to which Free users have access, our Basic subscribers also have access to our accompanying PDFs. The accompanying PDFs are available under the Basic column below each of our lessons. To access the PDFs, simply click on the desired PDF to open it in your browser, or save it to your computer by right-clicking (control-clicking for uni-button Mac users) and choosing to save. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the PDFs, or an alternative such as the free Foxit Reader.

Learning Center
The Learning Center is our extensive collection of tools and features that can help you take your learning experience to a completely new level. The Learning Center is divided into two sections: Lesson Specific and Reference Materials. The Lesson Specific features allow you to make the most of our podcasts by reviewing, drilling, and quizzing you over the lesson material. The Reference Matrial features allow you to go beyond the lessons and take your studies into your own hands.

Global: My Word Bank
Your Word Bank is a collection of vocabulary that you build from the vocabulary provided in the lessons, or by using the dictionaries. You can open your Word bank in a print friendly format for easy printing, or drill your Bank with the Self-Study flashcards. Clicking any entry in your Bank will remove that entry. You can also select multiple entries and click the Delete Selected Words button at the bottom to remove multiple entries.

In the User Settings, you can select which type of romanization is displayed in the Basic Dictionary.

Lesson Specific: Lesson Directory
The Lesson Directory is your one-stop access to all of the available lesson data. You can filter the directory of lessons using the check boxes at the top, or change the sort order, and then click Refresh. The Lesson Specific tools default to the most current lesson. To change the current lesson, simply click the book graphic in the Review column for the lesson you wish to choose. Click on a lesson name to jump to the lesson home and comments. In the Listen column, click the first speaker graphic for the lesson audio, and if available the second speaker graphic links to the informal or bonus audio. In the Explore column, there is a graphic for each PDF that is provided for that lesson. If you hover the mouse over the graphic, it will tell you which PDF it represents.

Lesson Specific: All Lesson Vocabulary List
The All Lesson Vocabulary List provides a comprehensive, dynamic, and fully searchable list of all the vocabulary words covered in every Beginner, Intermediate, and Survival Phrases lesson. Easily filter your search by keyword, lesson type, and lesson #. Results are displayed in Korean, romanized characters, English, and can be quickly added to your personalized Word Bank with the click of a button. Finally, a link is provided for each vocabulary word which will take you to the Learning Center of the specific lesson that introduced the word.

Lesson Specific: Vocabulary List
The Vocabulary List is a listing of the vocabulary relevant to the currently selected lesson. You can click on any of the vocabulary listed to add them to your Vocabulary Bank which can be used to print study lists or create flashcards. You can also select multiple vocabulary and click the Add to My Word Bank button at the bottom to add all selected vocabulary.

Lesson Specific: Grammar List
The Grammar List is a listing of the grammar points introduced or covered in the currently selected lesson. Each grammar point can be clicked on for a detailed expansion including formation, example sentences, notes, related expressions, and related lessons.

Lesson Specific: Vocabulary Flashcards
The Lesson Specific Vocabulary Flashcards drill the vocabulary that are in that lesson’s vocabulary list. When starting, select the type of flashcards that you prefer from the provided options. Then choose Begin. To show the missing information on the flashcard, click the Show Answer button at the bottom. If you already knew this answer, click the Yes button. Otherwise, click No. The page will keep a record of your progress.

Lesson Specific: Quizzes
Our Content, Grammar, and Vocabulary questions reinforce what you’ve learned in the lesson. After studying the lesson materials, you’ll want to quiz yourself over the information. Simply click on the quiz that you would like to take in the sidebar, and then complete the quiz questions and click Check Answers at the bottom. You will be given an overview of your quiz results outlining which answers were correct or incorrect, and supplying the correct answers.

Choose to view and print a Printer Friendly copy of the chart, or study straight from the site with a selection of our voice talents to give you the proper pronunciation of each character. Our Word Dictionary consists of about 4000 entries, but is growing constantly. For exact matches only check the appropriate box just below the search query. Search using English, hangul, or romanization and click on any of the results to add them to your Word Bank. You can also select multiple entries and use the Add Selected to My Word Bank button at the bottom to add them all at once.

Reference Materials: Hangul Recognition Practice
To get started using the Hangul Recognition Practice, choose the hangul you wish to practice, and below the Check answer button, select the groups you would like included. If you have Macromedia Flash installed, you can check Play Sounds to hear the proper pronunciation of the character once you have correctly identified it. Once you are ready to start, enter the romanized reading of the character in the entry field below the character and hit enter or click the Check answer button. If you choose correctly, the box below the character will turn green, confirm your answer, and give you the correct pronunciation if you have Play Sounds enabled. If you choose incorrectly, the box below the character will turn red and the correct reading will be displayed, along with a new character for you to identify. The page keeps a record of your results which you can reset using the Reset button at any time.

Our extensive Grammar Bank offers a collection of grammar points covered in each lesson. It is searchable by TOPIK level, level category, or romanization. Each grammar point comes packed with formation, example sentences, notes, related expressions, and related lessons.
