예. 먼저 모국어나 다른 언어로 생각하고 번역해야 하는 것은 불편하지요? 외국어를 유창하게 할려면 생각조차 점점 바꿔야 하는 일인데요.

나는요 휴가 얻으면 늘 한국에 가고 싶지만 우리 막내가 지금 대학을 다니니까 그럴 여유가 없어요.

Hi yostream,

안녕하세요,

한국어를 말할 때 우선 영어로 생각한 후에 한국어로 바꿔 말해야 해요?
어려운 방법이네요.

한국어에 숫자는 조금 복잡해요.
하지만, 말하고 읽고 사용하다 보면 금방 익숙해 진답니다.
실수를 두려워 하지 말고, 배운 부분은 복습해 보세요!

You can do it!
Keep working

This is so adorable to hear your story yostream!:)

Just few corrections on your story ;)

지금은 문장을 만드는 데에 문제가 아직 있어요. 한국어로 말할 때 우선 영어로 생각해야 되요.
그것을 막기위해, 말과 그림을 같이 연상해야한다고 어딘가에서 들었어요. 하지만 그것은 너무 어렵고 기네요.
그리고 번호는 아직 못 외웠어요. 저는 그것을 배울 필요가 있어요.
그런데 저만 휴가에 가는 유일한 사람인가요? 여러분은 어디에 가요?^^

Your sentence was great absolutely and I am even impressed that you used the word 연상!

It is a hard word!:) And I have changed 못 외웠어요 as in not memorized yet!:)

So jealous that you went to 프랑스 남부! I would love to go there. I am actually thinking about 영국 :)

Thank you

요즘은 "Can you hear my heart", "The thousand man", "Faith", "Arang the magistrate" 및 "Five fingers" 보고 있네요 :o

아 그리고, 가끔에 네이버 뉴스 읽어 봐요^^. 새로운 단어들을 얻으려고 정말 좋은 방법이에요.
그렇지만, 아무것을 이해 못 할 때, 저를 우울하게 할 수 있어요. :(

그런데 지금까지 제가 숫자를 모르는 사실 저에게 문제아니에요. 그렇지만, 한번은 숫자가 확실히 필요할 것을 알으니까
KoreanClass101.com 의 레슨인 확인해볼거예요.

Anne

Madison씨 고마워요!

아 참! 문제 있어요! 오랜만이였죠 :D

I want to say : "You know that I already ate right?"
-내가 벌써 먹었다는 것을 알아지?
-내가 벌써 먹은 사실을 알아지?
-내가 벌써 먹었기 알아지?

Are they correct/Do they mean the same?

Also,
-내가 벌써 먹은 것 알아지?
If I had ommitted the "벌써" It would have meant "You know what we ate right?"
But since it's there does this sentence have the same meaning as the ones above? (Since "You know what we already ate" doesn't really make sense...) :?:

감사합니다~ :D

내가 벌써 먹었다는 것을 알지?
내가 벌써 먹었다는 사실을 알지?

You can also replace 벌써 with 이미

벌써 here means 'already' but I think it sounds a little more recently, like "first," like 'You know I at first -right?' whereas 이미 simply means 'already' as in 'before' -like 'before I/you came.

Hi yostream1235086,

Thank you for your question always! It's good one :)

About what you have asked,

I want to say : "You know that I already ate right?"
-내가 벌써 먹었다는 것을 알아지?
-내가 벌써 먹은 사실을 알아지?
-내가 벌써 먹었기 알아지?

-> 내가 벌써 먹었다는 것 알지?
-> 내가 벌써 먹은 사실 알지?
-> 내가 벌써 먹은거 알지?

would be better option! but the second one in fact is not well-used.. 사실 is a lot more of fact or a bit formal.

Also,
-내가 벌써 먹은 것 알아지?
If I had ommitted the "벌써" It would have meant "You know what we ate right?"
But since it's there does this sentence have the same meaning as the ones above? (Since "You know what we already ate" doesn't really make sense...)

-> simply when the 벌써 is getting omitted, the meaning of already is gone. So except for that meaning there is no change.

Ok, thank you for your answers. I'm still not used to the indirect quotation thing I guess I'll have practice that more. :D

In fact the "~다고 하는 것 / ~다는 것" (or 사실 instead of 것) pattern can always be translated as "The fact that..." right?
It's pretty strange because I thought in this kind of sentence where there are quotations the verb 하다 was translated as "to say" like 말하다...

By the way, I watched the lessons about numbers and it's way easier than I thought^^ It seems like the only difficult part of it is the usage of counters but it should be ok with some practice. I'll check it out more in depth when I get the time.

Thanks. :)

Hi yostream,

Great to hear that you're ok to know how to use numbers.
Please practice it in Korean too whenever you count in own language.
Enjoy learning Korean with KoreanClass101.com

Hi,
I'm also new here and I'm really interested in learning this language.I'm trying my best to understand the format for making sentences in Hangul and if they are as flexible as the English language. From what i have learned so far,it seems the verbs always come last and are conjugated depending on the level of formality but my main problem is how the particles come into the sentences.
Sometimes I see '을', 를',의',or'는', coming with the subjects or just some nouns in the sentence,so I get confused. Please could you explain the differences and help me with some keypoints I can use to understand the sentence structures better.

Thank you.

Hey there!

That is very much legitimate question. We do have an order that is almost opposite of English structure!

But then again it sometimes moves around especially when it comes to collquial sense.

Those particles are basically used to support when you allocate the type.

The best way seems to be this episode - it will give you how basic Korean structure would be like and at least starting from there will give you much clearer way!

http://www.koreanclass101.com/2011/04/2 ... structure/

Please give it a try and let us know :)
