Everyone has something they want to do on their last day of summer vacation in Korea! You and all of your friends decided to get together and have one last day of fun before it’s back to the books tomorrow at the Korean University! One friend says in Korean, “before we go home today, I want to go shopping in Seoul!” Well, that seems to be fine with the women in the group… One Korean man speaks up in Korean, “before I go home today, I want to see a movie.” As your group of tightly knit friends starts to come unraveled, discussing the different possibilities for your last free day in Korea, you realize a solution! You scream out in Korean above the arguing, “Before we go home today, we can do all these things if we stop arguing about it now!” Then you add in Korean, “But before we go home today, we HAVE to eat at the new Korean restaurant!” Finally, a solution everyone can agree on.

Without having a tough day now and then, how would we be able to rise to the occasion or test our mettle? If every day in Korea or any other country were sunny and never filled with some rain, we’d be bored (and without trees, flowers, and grass, to boot!). Though we all have to deal with problems every now and again, not all of us are equipped as well as our Korean author to manage them. What’s his secret? You’ll find out in today’s Korean audio blog!

Learn Korean with KoreanClass101.com! You are negotiating with your spouse about how to spend your Saturday afternoon. You tell your spouse in Korean, “Let’s go shopping!” Your spouse asks in Korean, “Shopping for what, exactly?” You respond in Korean, “Does there have to be a purpose for a shopping trip?” Your spouse explains in Korean, “Yes. If we don’t go with a specific purpose in mind, we’ll wander around aimlessly and end up buying things we don’t need.” You reply indignantly in Korean, “I always shop with a purpose!” Your spouse then suggests in Korean, “Why don’t you tell me what we need, and I’ll make a list of objects to help us stay on task.” You tell your spouse in Korean, “I think you are missing the point of shopping!” Your spouse lectures you in Korean, “No…if I wanted to shop without an object in mind, I’d say we were going browsing!”
