Learn Korean with KoreanClass101.com! You’ve been trying so hard to help your friend from the Korean University get a date in Korea…but he just won’t ask! First, you introduced him to some girls at the university. When you could see that he was obviously interested in one of them, you told him in Korean, “Great! Now ask her for her phone number!” Hesitatingly, he walked away…and never got up the courage to ask. Okay, next stop is the hot new club in Korea! He is SURE to find a date there! But twenty minutes into a conversation with a girl who is dropping heavy-hints to your friend, you encourage him again in Korean, “Man, she loves you! Ask her for her phone number!” Again, he walks away hesitantly as if there is something he is not telling you. This time you can’t let him lose the girl! You call him back and ask him if there is a problem. Embarrassed, he explains in Korean, “I don’t know how to say ‘phone number’ in Korean!” OHH! Why didn’t he say so?! This week’s lesson at KoreanClass101 will fix that!

When asking for number in Korean there are a few phrases I would like to know.
Give me your cell phone.
Here is my number.
I’ll call you later.

안녕하세요!
Give me your cell phone.
= 핸드폰 주세요.
= 핸드폰 주실래요?
= 핸드폰 잠깐 주실래요?
Here is my number.
= 제 번호예요.
= 이게 제 번호예요.
= 여기 제 번호예요.
I’ll call you later.
= 전화할게요.
= 나중에 전화할게요.
I hope this helps!!

안녕하세요?
Yesterday I learned this:
전화 번호가 뭐예요? What is (your) phone number?
I don’t know how this compares to the lesson in this podcast. I will have to ask my friend / tutor about it, but perhaps this will be helpful to someone too.

연락좀주세요.전화해요.

In the writing section, I put periods at the end of the sentences, and it was marked wrong. When I removed the period, then it was correct. Do you not put a period at the end of a sentence in Korean? The dialog has them.

In the PDF, under more examples, there is the sentence “오늘 전화해.” with the translation as “It’s not so good.” Huh? I thought it was something like “call today”. I hope that is a mistake, because I don’t get it if that is the correct translation.
Wednesday at 10:54 pm
Yeah it definitely means “call today”. It looks like someone made a quick mistake while making the PDF file.

Thank you for letting us know the mistyped words on PDF file. Sorry for the inconvinience.
I’ve corrected the mistyped words and now you can find the correct translated text on this page.
Thanks again.

Thank you for the comment. We’ve checked the sentences you mentioned and corrected them.
We’re now checking the PDF files and correcting them. However, your comments and findings through study really helps a lot. I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Hi KClass101,
may i know the difference between 갈 거예요? and 갈 게요? I often see the both of them.
Tuesday at 9:32 am
거예요 means ‘will / to be going to’, and 게요 means ‘let me do something’
For example, you can ask 거기에 갈 거에요? (Are you going to go there?) or you can answer 거기에 갈 거예요 (I’m going to go there) by using the word 거예요. However, you cannot say 거기 갈 게요? to ask question.
With 게요, you can only answer as 거기에 갈게요. (Let me go there) It means as same as 갈 거예요 but it is more polite to answer questions. But you cannot use the form to ask something.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.

Written questions asks for “Really?”
But the correct answer is “정말” without the question mark.
Friday at 9:23 am
That’s right. You can simply say ‘정말’ (For real) to answer the question ‘정말?(For real? / Really?)’
Thanks.
