(Everyone… What are you doing tomorrow?)
How do you pronounce ㄱ? 기역 or 기엿? I heard it with end sound of “t” and not “k”.
What is the difference between 내가 먹을래 and 저는 먹을래? Is the other one wrong?
thanks!
Shena
ㄱ is pronounced “기역”
And 저는 먹을래 is wrong because 먹을래 is intimate whereas 저는 is polite ^_^
So you can only say 내가 먹을래 or 제가 먹을래요

hello there
so this construction is like a nice way to say something
if i’m with my friends having a beer and i have to go
i can use this construction to ” sound ” polite
so when i say i’m leaving i’m not really waiting for a response nor i should care
am i right ?
rigo
When you are with friends and you have to leave, both 갈게 and 갈래 can work, but 갈래 sounds a bit less caring (about the others’ reaction)
I’m a little confused, should I be using the ㄹ게 construction to answer the above question? The pdf says that we probably shouldn’t. Well that’s how I understood it.
Max
Please have another look at this part in the **remember** part of the PDF
“if what you’re intending to do has not been affected or decided by what the other person has just said”

I think my comment got lost again. I’ve observed it tends to happen when there’s more than one post going through at the same time.
Hyunwoo, what’s the difference then between 내가 먹을래 and 나 먹을래? I think this has been addressed in one of the lessons, but I’m still confused when to use 내가/ 제가 and when to use 나/저(는).
Margaret

And to answer your question,
It ALL depends on the context! But to give you a general explanation,
내가 먹을래 basically is something you say when someone asked you or the situation requires to decide WHO’s going to eat it, and you say ‘내가’ to mean ‘I’m going to be the one’
나 먹을래 can have the same meaning as the above depending on the way you say it, but this is a bit weaker because you don’t have the ‘-가’ there, since -가 directly expresses a subject.
But when you are not sure, I recommend using 제가 먹을래요 or 내가 먹을래 because it’s clearer. And don’t worry ^_^!! You’ll get it naturally
Thanks, Hyunwoo, for the explanation. I think I need to see/hear more examples (Yay, I can watch more K-dramas!) But I sure hope I’ll be able to “get it naturally” someday!
Shan
(Yep. Right. If you keep practicing, you’ll get it naturally) ^^

hmmm… I’m not sure if I got this right… I kind of got confused with the explanation on the pronunciation.
the written form is 할게 but spoken sounds like 할께…
and the same for 할게요 that sounds 할께요 ???
or did I get it the other way around? It sounded so similar to me when Keith and Soul were saying it the “weird-unnatural” way and then the normal way…
I hope someone can help me out with this.
Thanks!!!
Robert, you got it right
할게 and 할게요 are written this way but they are often (almost always) pronouced as 할께 and 할께요 .
Not always, but often times, when 게 is following a ㄹ, it’s pronounced as 께
