그리고 --> 그리구

--> if it means you can't do something because you don't have airconditioning, you can say '에어컨이 없어서 못 하는데' and if it means you can't do anything about having no airconditioning, you can say '에어컨이 없어서 어쩔 수 없는데' :)

<blockquote>

Daniel :)

Haha :D yeah... it might be a bad business model, but it seems like it's not such a bad idea after all (especially in the summer) because there's so many people going there anyway and I think it basically depends on where your shop is located. Hehe.

And what's interesting is, haha, when I think of a rocking chair, I also get to think of a grandma, but the image of this grandma that comes to my mind when I think of rocking chairs is not an image of a Korean person - but a western grandma. Haha.... I guess I get that from movies and books.

And I don't think there's any particular stigma attached to young guys hanging out in those places ... people will just think that they are single.

Any other thought from anyone else on this?

I've only been once to one of those kinds of places... The design is definitely catering to the younger, especially female, crowd... :)

One different "through a cultural lens" point: when I see rocking chairs, I think grandma decor. Here in Korea, it's a 'cute' thing, where "앉아만 있어도 재밌게 놀 수가 있어요." Ah, cultural difference...

I wonder how these kinds of places can stay in business. The food/drink is very cheap, especially compared to their more expensive "coffee shop" cousins. As 정은이 said, people tend to hang out a while in 생과일 전문점, just like in coffee shops. But at a 생과일 전문점, you can get ice cream/cake/sherbert and a drink for about the same price as a simple coffee. With people potentially hanging out for hours while only ordering about 10 000원 worth of things, it seems like a bad business model... especially when you must pay for and maintain the "예쁜 인테리어 디자인"!

Does anyone know if there's any "stigma" attached to young guys hanging out there, without girlfriends? The decor is pretty effeminate, so...? :???:

Sam :)
