So, everyone. I spent the weekend in Busan, and it was really cool to hear Busan dialect.

Unfortunately I don’t have any Korean friends in Busan… so all I could learn was one phrase from a bartender in a little “soju tent” called fuzzy navel in 서면.

I find the expression 죽으래? quite useful with my close friends, and had recently learned the Jeju equivalent to that… 죽잰? So I decided to ask the bartender about 부산 사투리 and found that in 부산 it’s 뒤질래?

Now when my best friend says something stupid to me, I can ask my friend if she wants to die in standard Korean, Busan, and Jeju dialects. What an accomplishment!

Perhaps I should have started learning friendlier phrases….?

my friend came back from korea and i used some of the phrases while talking to her on the phone tonight - she thought it was great. she couldn’t stop laughing at me! she says she’s going to teach me more - i am excited! ^^

Hilarious. Thanks for my laugh for today.

There’s something interesting in the chemistry of the dialouge… The girl’s voice is so cutesy, and the man’s is so rough and blunt.

But nothing can top my new favourite phrase, which if I can spell it right, is 떼리치아뿌라! I also like the 니 미치나? phrase, especially with the “waterfall” intonation. And for the record, I understood the “taking a test” analogy, but the waterfall is much more of a beautiful image!

thanks hyunwoo - that sounds longer than the way it way it was said with satoori in the lesson. isn’t there a shorter way? don’t worry, i’m not going to go pick fights! i’m just curious of the difference between the satoori and standard korean. well, i might pick a fight sometime… ^^

and i just listened again and couldn’t stop laughing at the “like a big wave before a typhoon” part. you guys are hilarious!
