고등학교 다녔을 때는 졸린 때가 안 많았어요. 제 다녔던 학교의 수업 시간은 8:30부터 4:30까지니까 한국의 학교에 비하면 제 다녔던 학교가 힘들게 하는 학교가 아니에요. 그럼에도 불구하고 몇 수업동안 책상 위에서 잠 잤어요! 정은이의 했던 말 대로 잠 잔 다음에 목이 아프게 됐어요.

저는 짧은 수엄으로서 가장 많은 정보가 머리에 든다는 철리에 동의해요– 특히 외국어 공부에 관한 말이에요. 제 처음 산 한국어 책의 머리말에서는 “Korean is a rewarding language to learn, but it can be difficult and frustrating. The best practice is to study small bits at a time frequently. You will be surprised at how much progress you can make using this strategy, rather than trying to cram the language into your head”라고 쓰였어요. 제가 이 철리를 가지고 한국의 교육 방법에 대해서 좀 궁금하고 있어요. 한국에서는 가장 빠른 방법으로 학생들에게 교육하게 하는 거 같은데 너무 어렵고 수준에 적절하지 않은 교재로 교육하는 거 같아요. 개인적인 생각인데 그런 교육은 안 맞아요. 새벽까지 공부해야 하는 학생들은 오후 4시까지 공부해야 하는 학생들보다 더 배울 수 있는지 없는지 모르겠지만 포화점이 (한도점?) 있어야겠죠!

아, 근데: 끝에서는 현우 씨와 미현 씨가 정상 학교와 학원에서 교육에 덕택이라고 하쎴나요? 설명 좀 해 주실래요?

I saw that word written in cyworld by a 24 year old guy to a 30 year old guy.ㅋㅋㅋ Why a young guy speak with a speech level used by old people?ㅋㅋ and with someone who is a little older than him?^^ Does it mean something or it’s kind of a joke?

-하오 / -소 is one of the older speech levels in Korean which is not used in everyday Korean but still used sometimes by relatively older people.

ex)
보고 싶소 (보고 싶어요)
그렇소 (그렇습니다)
그러하오 (그래요)
잘 모르오 (잘 몰라요)

This speech level is used by someone OLDER toward someone who’s YOUNGER, but already GROWN-UP.

So a 50살 아저씨 could use this kind of -하오체 to a 40살 아저씨

ex. 보고 싶소
