I just absolutely love these lessons about 사투리. It’s fascinating. All of my family is from 충청도. Could you possibly do a lesson on this dialect and culture? It’s known to be an innocent, slow culture.

I dont know about everyone but I lived in 대구 for almost 2 years and there is a big difference between 경남 and 경북 사투리. Even amongst places in 경남 and 경북 there are lots of differences but the culture is pretty much the same. I dont know if it is just me because I am into sociolinguistics or not but I think that should have been noted. It was kinda mentioned at. It should almost be a study on 부산.

경상도 people hardly can say “ㅆ” pronounces.
so i had a funny episode in a school days.
there is a 선배 from 부산 in my class.

나 : 형, “쌀” 해 봐요.
선배 : 살
나 : “살” 말구요, “쌀!” ㅋㅋㅋ
선배 : 되잖아 임마, “살!”
나 : 그게 “살”이지 “쌀”이예요?
선배 : “……ㅅ……쌀!”
나 : 오… 되네. 그럼 “생쌀” 해 봐요.
선배 : 쌩살!

제가 제일 좋아하는 사투리 경상도 사투리 이에요 (고마워요,현우씨, for explaining that 제일 좋아하는…I would have made spelling mistakes en masse)…왜 경상도 사투리? Lots of people told me already that German sounds like you are constantly figthing, so I guess, 경상도 사투리 does not sound THAT harsh to me

Did anyone else think that when 진용 was repeating the dialog slowly in the 경상도 사투리 he sounded like he was totally intoxicated?…I mean completely drunk! Go and listen to it again. I couldn’t stop laughing….

The best movie to watch to compare the two 사투리s is “황산벌” That movie has both of the 사투리’s almost presented perfectly well and there, you can see the 백제 (ancient dynasty based in the 전라도 area) soldiers chase away the 신라 (ancient dynasty based in the 경상도 are) soldiers JUST BY swearing at them. HAHA

전라도 사투리 is the one that actually involves a lot of actual swear words (when necessary, that is!) whereas 경상도 사투리 is famous for ’sounding’ blunt due to the melodic tones

nice, nice.. now, you guys seemed to be having a lot of fun this lesson. the group dynamic is really funny and i couldn’t stop laughing. i’ll listen again to make sure i actually learn everything. ^^

경상도 사투리 is a bit blunt and people can mistake it for people arguing or fighting, right? i also have heard that 전라도 사투리 is a bit harsh and known for people insulting eachother. have i heard completely wrong? or is it similar to 경상도?
