oh sorry, I think I should have paid more attention and could've figured it out myself. I still find this one hard to translate, but I guess it makes sense in korean...

because I thought passive didn't have a subject... that it was like "be heard, can't be heard" kind of... but

저는 잘 안 들리잖아요...

it has subject... maybe it would translate literally like "you know that me, to hear doesn't work well..." it sounds weird, I know... so it seemed more logical not to use a passive in this kind of sentence, but now I know it works.

thanks!

Robert :)

들리잖아요 is conjugated that way because the verb is 들리다 :)

들잖아요 would be the conjugated form of 들다 :)

That extra 리 makes the verb passive ^^

haha... good lesson and useful phrase. The creepy sound at 3:28 hahaha...

I've a question about a conjugation that appeared in the conversation.

Why isn't 들리잖아요 conjugated as 들잖아요

Just wondering if that extra 리 modifies the meaing in any way, or if it's wrong to leave it without it. Thanks!

"한 번 눈 감아 주세요"라는 말도 거의 똑같은 뜻이지만 ^^ 평소에 쓰기에는 굉장히 '무거운' 표현이에요 ^^

영어로 하면 "turn a blind eye on something"이죠 ? :-)

And I used to use this "봐 주세요" most when I was talking to my mother as a kid. hehe.

Keith Tl,

그 표현을 소강대학의 한국어 공부하는 왭시트을 통해서 배웠어요. 이 왭시트가 정말 재미있고 유용해요. 몰론 당신의 왭시트가 더 훌륭해서 앞으로 많이 공부하러 올거예요..

Michael - 그런 표현을 처음 들어 봤는데요... ㅎㅎㅎ... 그런 표현을 어디서 배우셨어요?

Claire - 학생들이 다 모범생이 잖아요! Of course all our students are 모범생! :)

Jeff - Lol!!! That was Seol... coming back to live!

Jacequeline - I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson! Do you see yourself using this phrase?

Daniel - Yea, Policemen get this phrase a lot by bad bad crooks!

"눈감아 주세요"라는 표현을 한 번도 듣지 않았어요. Michel 씨: 그 속어 표현에 소개해 주셔서 고마워요! :)

I actually learned "봐 주세요" in my first Korean book, in one of the situations Keith and Seol described. A woman goes the wrong way up a one way street, and when the policeman brings it to her attention (and tells her about the big fine!), she says: "죄송합니다. 일방통행 표지판을 정말 못 봤어요. 한 번만 봐 주세요!"
