Learn Korean with original Korean drama scripts! If you’re a Korean Drama fan, you definitely have to tune in to today’s lesson! Hyegyeong confesses her love to Taehyeon, but he doesn’t respond so well. But to do all that, both Hyegyeong and Taehyeon will need some more 하다 (hada) verbs. These 하다 (hada) verbs are a bit different than what was covered last time, so remember to tune in and find out some more about these verbs! And after listening, remember to stop by KoreanClass101.com and leave us a comment!

여러분… 그 드라마를 본 적이 있으세요? ‘미안하다, 사랑한다’?
Have you ever seen this drama? I’m Sorry, I Love you?
이 ‘미안하다, 사랑한다’라고 하는 드라마 못 봤는데 아까 든 레슨은 정말 슬퍼요. 그러나 호스트들은 언제나 웃겨서 재미있게 들었어요.
여러분, 사랑을 고백한 적이 있어요? 사랑을 거부한 적이 었어요?
Everyone, have you ever confessed your love? Have you ever refused love?
Jeff(Javis) 저도 아직 이 드라마 전부는 못 보고, 조금씩 조금씩 보았는데, 한국에서 인기가 정말 많았어요!
여자들은 모두들 소지섭 같은 남자친구를 갖고 싶어하죠!
(= I haven’t been able to watch the entire TV drama but just small parts of it, but it was really popular in Korea. Every woman wants to have a boyfriend like 소지섭.)
그 드라마를 본 적이 없어요
i don’t really like those mushy, drama series. im more into the funny shows.. hehe
i still dont get the difference between 싫다 and 싫어하다. haha.
아 이 번 달 동안 조지섭 같은 남자와 사귀고 싶어요? 한국 여자가 좋아하는 남자 타입은 잘 바뀌는 것 같은데.. ![]()
Oh, so they want to get with guys like 소지섭 this month? It seems like the type of men that Korean women like changes easily…
마리안,
If I understand correctly, 싫다 is an adjective that means hateful or offensive. Like 싫은 것, something that is offensive. It can also be used in narration to say that you dislike some action. Like 하기 싫어요, don’t like/want to do it.
싫어하다 is like the action of disliking or hating something. 마리안을 싫어해요 means ‘I hate 마리안’.
From the lesson, there was an example of another verb like this, 좋다 and 좋아하다.
고양이가 좋아요.
Cats are good.
고양이를 좋아해요.
I like cats.
I haven’t watch that drama yet.
But the first thing that came to my mind when i read that title was Big Bang’s song “거짓말” (Lies) ^^, since it says (I’m so sorry but I love you )so many times ^^. Here’s the chorus part: ![]()
I’m so sorry but I love you
다 거짓말 이야 몰랐어
이제야 알았어
네가 필요해
I’m so sorry but I love you
날카로운 말
홧김에 나도 모르게
널 떠나보냈지만
I’m so sorry but I love you
다 거짓말
I’m so sorry but I love you
I’m so sorry but I love you
나를 떠나
천천히 잊어줄래
내가 아파할 수 있게
That chorus was stuck in my head for a long time last year
I always hear 네가 pronounced as (niga) instead of (nega), why is that?
And what does that word mean?
Jeff, thanks.
I understood the 좋다 and 좋아하다 but your explanation made it clearer.
My internet connection is really slow today so I wasn’t able to listen to the whole lesson.
And yes, I also noticed, 네가 is pronounced as niga.
Is it to avoid confusion with 내가?
Jeff(Javis), nice explanation about 좋다/좋아하다 , 싫다/싫어하다!!
And 네가 is often pronounced 니가 because 네가 and 내가 are two different things in writing, but the same thing in pronunciation, unless you open your mouth extra wide to distinguish 내가 from 네가, so in reality 네가 is almost always pronounced 니가
max, 재미있는 드라마예요.
** 미안하다, 사랑한다에 대해서는 아무것도 몰라. 그런데 재미있겠다. (-에 대해서는 = about)
:D
고마워요
「눈의 꽃」이라는 노래 너무너무 좋아해요~~!드라마도 재미있겠네요^^

This lesson was great, especially since 을/를 can be a little confusing at times for me, but it’s starting to click. Thanks
:-) 비누 누나~ 좋은 링크 항상 감사해요!!!
Jeff(rooster), thanks!! 고마워요. And FYI, ‘to be informative’ in Korean is 유익하다, so you can say “유익해요” to say that something is informative
Lynn, glad you enjoyed the lesson! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask
언제든지 질문해 주세요!
I was going to say that the lesson made me think of Big Bang’s song, but Jacqueline beat me to it.
Jeff(rooster), 천만에요~!
비누 누나, ‘기다릴게요’라는 말, 노래들에 참 많이 나오죠?
Dan, hehe. Did you think of Big Bang’s song even before the TV drama ?
Probably, from hearing the song so many times.
I don’t think I’ve seen the TV drama. I think I had read something about it before, but I don’t remember where or when.
:-) I’ve only seen parts of it too, but in Korea it was soooo popular (especially among women) that you can’t NOT know it … heh heh.
넵.저는「기다릴게요」에 대해서는 신승훈이 부르는 「I believe 」가 가장 인상적이거든요^^오늘은「잊지마~Don’t Forget 」를 배웠는데요.

「겨울 연가 」라는 드라마..아직 못 보았는데..류 좋아~
Very nice! Winter Sonata was the very first Korean drama I ever saw, and it started my interest in watching many others to follow. Like 마리안, I prefer the funnier ones (like “Full House” and “Couple of Fantasy”), but there was something in the melodrama and music in this one that got me hooked.
우와 ~~!감사합니다~~~!!!
정말 기뻐요
저도 Winter Sonata 를 꼭 볼게요 ![]()

You guys are really funny ![]()
I enjoy learning from you guys!
YAE! I’m sorry, I love you is a great drama, i nearly dehydrate when i watched it. HAHA! Cos i cried too much!!!!! You guys are great! love y’all Lessons!
^^
Sorry if someone already asked but in the PDF there in the sample sentences,
2. 잔는 공부 안 해요.
I don’t study.
3. 커피를 안 좋아해요.
I don’t like coffee.
Why isn’t sentence 2. 잔는 공부(를) 안 해요. ?
is it because it’s an action(verb) and not a thing(noun)?
존
Yeah ! ㅎㅎ
공부 안 해요 comes from 공부해요
And if the sentence goes ‘공부를 해요’ it would be 공부를 안 해요
So both are okay ^^!
ahaha i was gonna say the same thing about Big Bang’s song!
YAY! another Big Bang fan~~ ![]()
im a new fan, they seem pretty good. ![]()
