Give us some love while you learn Korean with KoreanClass101.com! In today’s Newbie Lesson, we’re going to be going over an indispensable phrase that is used with extreme frequency in Korean. As Ryuji wakes up in some woman’s house, he’s asking her for some water, food, and one more special item. So in today’s lesson, we’ll be going over how to ask someone for something in Korean. We’ll also be going over a speech softener, which will make you sound more polite, and more appreciated. After listening, remember to stop by KoreanClass101.com and leave us a comment!

avatar KoreanClass101.com says:

What do you think of 류지 (Ryuji) now?

avatar 마리안 says:

WOAH Ryuji!!!!!!! What’s happening with you?

Keith, Seol, Hyunwoo,

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

avatar 마리안 says:

Hyunwoo, WOW!
I’ll look forward to that!

avatar Jeongha Park says:

avatar Jeongha Park says:

avatar _petiteclaire_ says:

I guess the policeman left him out of jail to:
- get a bribe (no use in letting good money go to wast    )
- see what Ryuji was doing with a knife in the first place !

Maybe ryuji really is a dangerous criminal …

avatar Jeff says:

 dang, why is everyone here so good at korean

avatar 오스틴 says:

Jeff…

You answered your own question! Everyone here is good because they are studying at KClass!

avatar rigo says:

Hi there , very good lesson today i really lliked the vocab
very useful

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

I’ll be looking forward to it too!

Is 전주’s 비빔밥 that good and different from 비빔밥 from other places? :-)

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

petiteclaire,
:D Ryuji’s more than just dangerous … haha … look out for the next stories to come up :-)

Jeff,
I know you’re good too! :-) hehe.

rigo,

avatar GreySky (벤자민) says:

Mmmh I don’t think people would give food to strangers that easily where I live…

Anyway, I still trust 류지 : he’s not a criminal in my opinion…

avatar Jeff (Javis) says:

Uh oh.

(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

But not many people would ask for a knife. Ryuji is special… :D

Jeff (Javis)
:-) Wow we have two Jeff here. :-)

avatar Jeff (Javis) says:

avatar Bouks says:

I’m just a *smiiiiiiidge* over 30….can I still be an agassi?

avatar Jeff says:

If you have a daughter, you’re definitely an ajumma.
It’s not bad. Don’t worry!

avatar Bouks says:

Jeff - but…but…we’re both very young-looking!

Ok, I’ll be an ajumma. Like the drama…”Here Comes Ajumma!” Look out!

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

Jeff,

아줌마 isn’t THAT bad… hehe. :D

avatar Jeff (rooster) says:

haha, since theres two jeffs, just call me rooster

avatar Trent says:

Oh…this is interesting
I think Ryuji maybe is a psycho, and we have an Old Boy type scene coming up soon!

BTW - I’m suprised to hear Seol is single. She’s pretty!
Maybe she has very high standards. hehehe

BTW2 - Would you consider Jang Dong Gun to be 아저씨 ? I think he is about 37 Korean age.

avatar Bouks says:

Jeff-ssi and Hyunwoo-ssi - here’s an idea…on the series Jumong, all of the high-ranking noble married ladies were addressed as “Pu-in”. So I think that’s what you should call me instead of Ajumma

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

Haha, Jeff(rooster), 좋은 생각이에요!(it’s a good idea!)

Trent, 장동건… haha. a very good question. his age would definitely make him an 아저씨 for sure, but… somehow … I have a feeling that he’s an exception. Haha. But generally, yes, a 37-yr-old would be an 아저씨. What do you think, everyone?

Bouks, 부인 sounds good :-) but for you I will use the name 마님 :-) that’s even more luxurious. haha.

avatar Auntie says:

As a person whose “user name” on various sites is invariably “auntie68″ or even “Auntie”, this lesson (and the lesson immediately preceding it) was particularly meaningul.

Well, this Auntie is a lazy newbie student who only this morning was two “Newbie” lessons (and God knows how many “Beginner” lessons,) behind, until she felt guilty and did some major “catch-up” work”.

But can I still say that it’s so great that our teacher, Hyunwoo Sun, is speaking so much more English in the lessons? Because his English is really, TRULY fantastic. Finally, thank you for continuing to take the trouble and the time to translate all the vocab in the audio blogs so that even newbies like me can enjoy them! Thank you so much…

avatar 오스틴 says:

Hyunwoo’s English really is amazing, isn’t it?

When I first met him, I assumed he had spent several years in America/Canada. His fluency really had me fooled. I was surprised to learn later that he hadn’t even been to the States!

He works hard!

avatar 선현우(Hyunwoo Sun) says:

Auntie, 그리고 Austin, thank you so much for the kind words … hehe I’m still learning, but thank you! :-)

We’ll keep having the vocab section in the audio blogs as detailed as it is now ^^ and will keep trying to make things better.
