Mainly because it's so easy. It's just an alphabet, you can learn all characters in a couple of hours. You may need to go to sleep for a while and tomorrow you will suddenly know all characters. There are some (not many) exceptions to the pronunciation of characters depending on their location in the word/syllable, but you will find those out over time.
