 Wow.. You should Seriously Consider about Replacing the Girl Who Spoke ENGRISH when you open this website. Her English is Soooo Bad, it was almost unbearable. I’m a Korean too but when I see Korean people like her speaking English, it is just a huge embarrassment. She sounded like Kim, Jongil from Team america, if you know what I mean.

comet, thanks for the question! and my answer is "yes" :-) they still bow to elderly people, although it's not the traditional big bow that we introduced in the video. :-)

Max, it must be still very very noisy over there, isn't it? :D

Daniel, that's interesting! :D I think it's because the "Jan 1st" new year is more for celebrating with colleagues and friends and the traditional "Chinese-Korean" new year is to be celebrated with family. :D

One interesting thing I noticed, though... On Dec. 31/Jan. 1, I got a ton of text messages (both personal and "bulk") from Korean friends, acquaintances, and co-workers wishing me a Happy New Year. On Seollal, though, I got almost none. I heard that Seollal is bigger than Jan. 1 in Korea, so I was surprised about the fewer texts thing...

Woo hoo! Happy New Year! Happy Spring Festival*! From now on we won't call it Chinese New Year, but Chinese Korean New Year!!

Sorry for all the exclamation marks, I'm just deaf from all the fireworks going on around me! I'm wading through piles of exploded fireworks and all my clothes smell like exploded gunpowder.

Must be new year again!

*what we call Chinese Korean New Year here in China
